Chapter two

"Where have you been" he says as he removes his belt and moves closer to me. I am so scared.

I know where this is going.

"At Melissa's house" I say starting to walk slowly backwards
He moves closer and begins beating me with his belt. Luckily I have my bag and phone. He beats me and I run away. I was so unlucky that my mom wasn't here. I run out and straight to Derek's apartment.

"Melissa you have to help me"
"What happened to you. You have a lot of wounds. Did you father beat you" she says while taking me to sit down.
"Yes"
"Was your mom home" she asks
"No. That's why I came here"
"You have to stay here for the night. You can't go back there"
"Thanks. Where's Olga"
"I think she is in her room"
"Please I need you to call her"

"Olga!!" Melissa shouts
"What" Olga says
"Val is here"
''I'm coming"

She walks into the room and looks at Melissa.

"Val what happened"
"It's dad. He hit me."
"You need to just move in"
"There is no way Derek will allow me. He'll be having to many girls in the house"
"Well then you need another place to stay. You can't be staying with dad anymore. Don't worry, I will get for you an apartment to stay and I'll be paying the rent"
"Thanks. What would I do without you" I hug her
"Right now let's get your wounds dressed"

They get me wounds dressed and Derrick arrives at his apartment.

"Ugh" he groans
"She needs to stay here for a few days." olga says
"But soon they'll be girls all over the house. The only reason I came here was to escape from my sisters. Then you just come along and bring more girls"
"Please, it will only be for 4 days"
"Fine I'll let you stay here for a few days"
"Yay thanks" Olga stood up and kissed Derek.

I can't believe they are actually dating. I love Derek. I have never loved anyone more than him. I have loved him for ten years now, he knows it but he just doesn't love me. I guess I just have to live with this pain. I can't believe he is with my sister. It hurts so much. They are a best friend couple.

I stand up and say "Where am I going to be sleeping" I tried to hold back my tears.
"Maybe you can sleep in the same room as Melissa" Olga says and I walk into Melissa's room. I close the door, sit on the empty bed and start crying.

"You don't have to hide it from me. I am your best friend." Melissa says and sits on the bed
"I know that you didn't get over Derek. I have known it for a long time."
"But you just don't get it. It's my sister, my sister"
"Just get yourself up and go take a cold refreshing shower."

I get up and walk into the bathroom, close the door and take a cold shower. I get out of the bathroom in a towel. I get some clothes I had taken in my bag incase I had slept over at Derek's place. I imagine Olga and Derek are in bed together. Tears start rolling down my cheeks and I can't sleep. It seems hot. I remove the clothes and remain in a shirt and a pantie. I can't seem to sleep. I go over to the kitchen and get some milk. I go back to the bedroom and finally fall asleep.

**THE NEXT MORNING**
I wake up by the sound of birds. I wonder to myself what day it is and I quickly remember that it is a Saturday. I step out of the bed very fast. I look straight at Melissa and she is still asleep. I grab my clothes and dress up. I go to the bathroom, grab a new toothbrush and toothpaste and start brushing my teeth. I look at myself in the mirror and try to smile. With all those bruises on my face. I try to put a smile on but I just can't. I don't know what to do in my life. All I have left are my mom, Olga, Melissa and Abril. I can't let them down by killing myself.

"Val you're already awake" Melissa says while stretching
"Yeah. I thought it was a week day"
"It's 6:39 am"
"Yeah so why are you awake"
"I heard someone opening the water"
"I was brushing. Well I've gotta get to my house and get my clothes before my dad wakes up."
"I'm coming with you" she says
"OK get dressed" I say and Melissa gets dressed and we quietly enter the house with the spare key I have. We manage to pack the clothes and get out. We rolled the suitcase down the road and reach the house. I walk into my room and put the suitcase on my bed. I can't believe I am even calling it my room and bed.

I hear my phone ringing. I check who is calling and it's my mom.
"Honey are you okay" Mom sounds worried
"I'm fine mom"
"Thank goodness. I was so worried about you"
"Don't worry mom. We shall see each other soon enough"
"I love you honey"
" I love you mom." I say and a tear rolls down my cheeks. I end the call and realise I really miss my mom. I sat on my bed and wipe my tears. This is really a hard time for me.

*TWO HOURS LATER**
I try calling my mom and she picks up.
"Hello" she says
"Hi mom is dad home"
"No, he went to work."
"Look I need to stay here for 2 days. Olga is going to get for me an apartment to stay in and I wanted to stay I it with you"
"Honey. I think it will be good for me and you to stay there but think about your dad. He'll starve to death"
"Don't worry about him. He'll probably just eat food from restaurants"
"OK honey bye. I have to go"
"OK bye mom"
