In the year 1970, about three years later, a ten-year-old girl named Kathy Dodger went near the Stone. As if in a trance, she dug it up. After she held it, she snapped out of her 'trance'.
"What's this?" she murmured.
"Greetings," Warin said with a smile. And he told Kathy the story of Warwick.
"This is very, very amazing," Kathy said. "I'm surprised!"
The Protectors smiled. This time, Kathy 'graduated' from spell-school (taught by the Protectors) within seven hours.
"You are a fast leaner," Albus said.
"Now you receive a wish," Warin said. He grimaced a little.
"What do you wish?" the other Protectors said in unison.
Kathy thought for a long time.
"I wish for you Protectors to choose when to die," she said. "Some of you can go up to heaven right now if you want. Or, since you've roamed this earth in boredom in the shadows for hundreds of years, you can go enjoy life like a normal person. My wish is for you to wish when to die."
They were stunned. Had she truly just wished that? They didn't need to talk it over. Warin looked over at the other eight Protectors. They all nodded.
Smiling broadly, Warin said, "Congratulations, Kathy. You've passed the test. You are now the true wizard. We thank you."
Warin told her the story of the wishes. That took about five minutes. Then he told her goodbye and chose to die.
Four other Protectors also chose to die.
The last four Protectors lived and left Kathy.
Kathy grew and married someone. He learned her secret and inherited hovercraft from her. Her last named became Jones. They had one child, a boy, and named him Jason. Jason married Callie and they had nine children, each which inherited one of the nine forces.
Jason and Callie were killed in a car accident right after their final child was born. Kathy was forced to care for them. She taught them how to use their powers and soon they were all experts.
But these nine siblings are a little irresponsible...
All this time, Bruce Nighte (now calling himself Black Night), with the power of death, had been watching.
And he knew just what he was going to do.
