Ms. Igarashi peered over the neatly kept bush to see Sayaka and Kirari laughing with one another. The girls were sitting right next to each other with no extra room between them. Sayaka was holding on to Kirari's arm and leaning very close to her. Ms. Igarashi could not believe it - her daughter Sayaka was in a relationship with the student council president, the one that she had been serving for years now, the Momobami Clan leader. The woman felt her stomach turn as she watched the teens feed each other spoonfuls of ice cream. She though it was disgusting.
Ms. Igarashi had been following her daughter around ever since she had left the schoolyard with Kirari. Since the shaky leg incident, Ms. Igarashi knew something must have been going on, and now she was starting to figure out what. Sayaka and Kirari were doing couple-like things, and when piecing the puzzle together, Ms. Igarashi eventually found out their secret. Behind the bush, she continued to watch them, until it was too much for her to handle. The woman got in her car and drove straight home.
The girls had not noticed a thing during the whole duration of their ice cream date.
~
A little over an hour later Sayaka had arrived back at her house. She opened the front door and took her shoes off, placing them on a shoe holder that was in the entry room. She hummed a happy song as she went up the stairs to her bedroom, expecting nothing out of the ordinary. However, she was in for a surprise. On her bed was Ms. Igarashi, arms crossed and an angry expression pasted right across her face. Sayaka tilted her head in confusion as she took off her school blazer.
"Mother? What are you-," she started but was abruptly interrupted.
"Where were you today, Sayaka?" Ms. Igarashi demanded in an aggressive tone. It surprised Sayaka a little, causing her to tense up.
"W-What do you mean? I was at school like always."
Now Sayaka was getting worried. Ms Igarashi never asked where she was since she really couldn't care less. This was definitely out of the ordinary, enough to make the teen girl nervous."Don't be smart with me, you brat. Now tell me, where the hell were you?" Ms. Igarashi asked again, this time with a stronger force in her voice. It was evident that she was on the verge of exploding with anger.
Sayaka stopped to think. If her mother was assuming she had been somewhere other than school... could she know that she went on a date with Kirari?
"W-Well, I guess you could say... I went to hang out with a friend for a little bit, but we-"
"Shut your damn lying mouth," Ms. Igarashi snapped before her daughter could finish. Sayaka's eyes widened as the older woman got up from the bed and made her way closer. Sayaka instinctively backed away from her fuming mother.
"I know exactly where you were, fucking liar. You were at the ice cream shop, getting disgustingly touchy with that god damn student council president. What the hell are you thinking, you can't like women!! That's not the way nature intended it to be. Tell me it isn't true..." Ms. Igarashi was in a rage. She stepped closer and closer to Sayaka, till the girl was in one corner of her bedroom
"Mother... please stop acting like this. Please just let me explain myself and my feelings, then maybe you could understand better..." Sayaka said as she broke into tears. She allowed herself to lean against the wall behind her and fall to the ground, landing softly on her bum.
"No. Same-sex attraction... that is disgraceful. You, Sayaka, are disgraceful. So, let's compromise here. Either you stop going around with that damn Kirari girl, or you get your filthy pussy-loving ass out of my house. Do I make myself clear?" Ms. Igarashi's voice had turned to stone. It wasn't filled with motherly love at all. All that could be found in it was anger and resentment.
Sayaka sobbed into her hands, trying to hide her puffy face from her mother. How could she be doing this, the girl thought. Weren't mothers supposed to support and love their children through everything? Weren't mothers supposed to be understanding and gentle? Was Sayaka's mother ever loving and gentle?
No. Thinking about it, Mother has never been good at all...
The girl knew what she had to do. As best she could, Sayaka took a deep breath and brought herself back together. She wiped the tears from her face and blew in from congested nostrils. She then stood up and looked her mother dead in the eyes, her own still puffy and red, and said these words:
"No, Mother. I will never leave the person who I love, the person who makes me feel good about myself. Kirari and I have a bond that is unbreakable. Love is universal. If loving a woman makes me a monster, then so be it. I am a monster! I have always been a monster! And not one thing will ever change that!"
Ms. Igarashi's eyes widened at her daughter's sudden confidence. Never before had she seen Sayaka stand her ground like this, never before had she seen Sayaka be so aggressively passionate. Out of anger, the woman stormed out of the room. Before she slammed the door, she said this:
"Pack your bags, you're out of here by tomorrow. Dirty bitch."
The door slammed shut and Sayaka looked down at her hands. Even she was shocked at her own outburst of emotion. It felt so... relieving.
Wait a minute... "out by tomorrow"? Oh no, she's kicking me out!!
Sayaka called Kirari immediately. After explaining the situation, the president gave her girlfriend great sympathy and offered her endless support. Then, she had an even better idea.
"Saya, why don't you come over to my house? My family will welcome you with open arms and you can stay for as long as it takes. Plus, this way we will be together every hour. So, what do you say?"
It didn't take any thought at all for Sayaka to agree. The Momobami's were an excellent family with lots of love to share. Surely they would accept Sayaka.
"Okay, President. In an hour or so could you please send your driver to fetch me? I will be done packing my things by then."
"Of course, Lily. I cannot wait till you move in with us. I will inform Mama, Papa, and Ririka too. See you in a while, my strong girl. I love you~"
~
Once Sayaka had packed most of her things into suitcases and bags, the Momobami's driver had already arrived. She brought all her stuff outside, and the driver helped her get everything in the vehicle. As Sayaka was stepping into the backseat of the car, she heard a little voice cry out to her.
"Onee-Chan, where are you going!? Please don't leave me, I wuv you!!" Akihiko was in tears as he watched his sister almost leave. Sayaka looked at him and started to tear up as well. She paused her descent into the car and ran to the door, giving her little brother a tight hug. She pulled away and wiped the tears that had fallen on his clear face. Akihiko held tightly onto Sayaka's sleeve.
"Aki, I promise that we will meet again, so please don't cry."
"Do you pinky promise, Nee-Chan?"
"Double pinky promise."
Sayaka took both of her pinkies and entangled them with her brother's much smaller ones. He smiled weakly and gave his sister one last hug.
"I believe you, Nee. I'll see you again someday, otay? I'll be waiting for you."
"As will I my dear brother. As will I."
