High School. Sam had dreaded those two words for as long as she had discovered it's existence. She considered it a place of doom with teachers waiting to snatch away the fun of learning and replace it with a grading system. She was on her way now to Abbey Don Gail High school, sitting in the passenger seat of her brothers new bmw, tightening her fingers against each other.
"Are you nervous" Asked her brother Derrick, steering the wheel from the drivers seat. "Just a little"... Sam hesitated before continuing "I'm just frightened and hope I make the right group of friends this time".
Derrick chuckled in the driver's seat. "Let's just hope you choose better friends than your last high school Sam". Sam made a face after realizing her brother's rude remark.
She knew why she was transferring schools. Her parents had been profoundly dissappointed with her. In her old high school, things got heated between her and her ex friend Lauren. Lauren was the popular one, the girl that got all the boys attentions and was always crowded by people. Sam became determined to be Laurens friend. She wanted what Lauren had. She wanted attention and to be famous if not celebrity famous, then the least school famous. It all backfired though, when Lauren's boyfriend kissed Sam and claimed her to be the one kissing him. After that claim, Lauren made it her duty to humiliate Sam, and make her the huge joke of the school. She became known as the school slut and homewrecker as people continued to call her out and categorize her into horrid labels.
Thinking back on her old high school, sam quietly spoke out. "I hope their nicer here". It almost sounded like a whimper to Derrick, as he recognized the fear in his sisters face. He loved her to death and stood up for her in her old high school. He sighed before speaking. "Sam, look at this like a new beginning, I know your extremely fun to be around so have fun, make new friends. Those people in the past were just a bunch of fucking fakes and you deserve better". Sam smiled before hugging her brother back tightly. "Fist pound"? Sam chuckled before aiming her fist out. Her brother laughed and bumped his fist with hers before letting her know they had arrived at the new high school. Sam opened the car door, got out, and made her way to the entrance of the school, with her schedule in her hand and braced herself for whatever was to come.
