I packed my things ready for the last exam. As I walked to school I didn't review my notes or stress out like everyone was probably doing. I simply put my head down and thought.

I don't know what made the floor so interesting, but it was a habit of mine to look down when I was thinking.

I did it involuntarily as I wondered back to what I had accomplished so far this year, the last year of school. Nothing

It was sad when I thought about it, but it was true. The only thing that I set out to do, I didn't do it. And that was talk to John..

John was a new student from this year and he had immediately caught my attention. He was the most handsome man I have ever laid eyes on. Yes he was common, but his friendly personality made him so engaging. From the moment I had heard him talk I knew we had to be friends. He had everything, the wit, the charm However, he had one drawback, he was friends with my ex.

I was taken out of my thoughts when I heard someone calling me from behind

"Hey Liz wait up" I stopped and turned around to see Sophie walking towards me, notes in her hand.

I gave a little sigh and said "Do you always need to have notes in your hand?"

If something characterised Sophie was her studying attitude. She took her studies very seriously as she always wanted to get the best marks to get a scholarship. But she wasn't totally obsessed with them, she always had time for anyone who needed her. She was one of the most generous people I knew and her best accessory was her smile. Nearly always, she had also won herself a reputation for being very rude, and this time was not an exception.

"Are you always such a critic of everyone? Why can't people accept the fact that I have to study? I want that scholarship, and I want to apply to a good university"

I mocked her by imitating her voice as I had heard that speech thousand of times this year

"Can we just walk together but not talk?" she asked ignoring me "I want to review this and I need silence"

It was just what I needed so I answered her with a kiss on the chick "Of course beautiful"

And she was beautiful. She remined me of Pocahontas, but with a much more beautiful nose. Let's face it Pocahontas has no nose. Her black smooth hair nearly reached her hips and she never tied it. Her brown eyes combined perfectly with her tanned skin that she still had from last summer. But what really stood out of her was her height. She was too short for a person with that character. And lastly, but not less important, she was my besty in volleyball, as we had been playing together for six years.

I stopped analysing Sophie and went back to my own thoughts.

Where was I? Oh yes Will, my ex. William, the most popular guy in school, and my formerly best friend turned my life upside down last summer when he told me he liked me. It was the most passionate, and my first, romance ever. I didn't want it to end, I actually thought it could last forever. But some people are not meant to be together. William broke up with me at the end of the summer just before the school year began and left me heartbroken. He was my best friend, my first lover and now my first exboyfriend. He left me for another girl.

I forgave him, but our friendship was never the same. And that was what made me back out when I tried being friends with John.

"What are you thinking about Liz?" I heard Sophie asking

"Things that you wouldn't like for me to think about"

She rolled her eyes and gave a deep sigh "If I ever catch you thinking about that jerk again I am going to do some serious ass kicking"
