the man paused.
his mind was becoming foggy and he couldn't see george properly. his eyesight wavering into nothing.
black.
blackness surrounded him, engulfing the man in a heavy cloud of memory.
but it felt so real, like he could reach out and touch it.
his dad stood before him, a belt in hand as he advanced towards the cowering boy in the corner, a grin on his face.
'what did you say, boy.'
the man watched as he kid tried to hide from his advancing father, his back pressed up against the wall.
as the belt hit the boys cheek the man could almost feel the sting, cushioned by decades but harsh nonetheless.
'you don't like boys, do you son. no child of mine will be gay.'
the man watched the belt hit the sobbing child's face again and he tried to move forwards, tried to get to his father.
he wanted to hit him. he wanted to scream at him and make him feel the pain he felt.
the man was scared of himself, he was never violent.
as soon as the memory came, it was gone.
now all he could see was the silhouette of george standing in the neighbours garden, his hands deep in his pockets.
'dream.' he called out nervously, shuffling his feet in the grass.
the man stared down at george. why had this boy managed to resurface that memory. no one could ever do that. not even nick.
in his shock the man didn't notice the absence of his moth.
perhaps that was for the best.
he ran a hand through his unruly hair, eyes still red from his high.
'george.' the man said hoarsly.
he wasn't sure what he was doing. the man had never felt like this before.
he felt protective of george. but why, he barely knew him
george nodded.
'do you want to stay with me.' dream breathed.
