Violet was standing over Seth, a shield held up infront of her.
"That idiot is going to get himself killed everytime we fight a boss." Violet muttured.
Luckily for him I won't let that happen, Violet thought.
"Idiot 2 and 3 help me out here!" Violet shouted.
A barrage of rays and knives soared through the air and struck Cryogen, forcing the frozen creature to retreat.
Now's my chance, Violet gritted her teeth and quickly put away her weapons.
Violet picked up Seth and swiftly ran towards the snowy forest that lay near the battlefield.
Miles shouted,"It's coming back!"
The sound of knives striking ice immediately filled the cold air, Cryogen was heading towards them.
"Give me more time would ya?" Violet shouted as she ran faster.
"It's focused on you guys!" Stella replied as she bombarded the icy creature with more knives.
Violet dashed into the forest, threw Seth's limp body behind some bushes and quickly lunged towards the ground.
I hope it doesn't see me, Violet thought as she covered herself with lumps of snow.
Violet lay motionless in the ground, the sound of tinkling wind chimes slowly getting louder.
Violet slowly reached for her bow, the tinkling wind chimes getting louder.
This is bad, Violet thought as she gripped her bow tightly.
The sound was very near to Violet, as if it was right on top of her.
Violet slowly looked up and saw the body of Cryogen glancing around, most probably looking for them.
I'm gonna finish it off right here, Violet notched an arrow to her bow and aimed at the creature.
Suddenly, a barrage of bullets struck the frozen creature, causing it's shield to break.
"What the!?" Violet shouted in shock.
Cryogen glared down at Violet and immediately prepared to attack the girl.
Oh god, Violet thought.
Suddenly, Seth was above her, his sword and shield in his hands.
"What are you doing idiot!?" Violet shouted at him.
"Nothing." Seth flashed her a grin and then turned to face Cryogen.
"Cryogen, lets settle this!" Seth shouted, waving his blade in the air.
Cryogen charged at Seth, but the boy had anticipated this. Rolling the side at the last second, Seth barely managed to dodge the attack.
Seth immediately lunged at Cryogen and swung his blade, scoring multiple hits on the monster.
Cryogen quickly rose into the air and launched a volley of ice shards. Seth swiftly zigged and zagged through the snowy forest, avoidng the projectiles.
"Is that the best you can do?" Seth mocked.
Cryogen came closer to the ground, launching more ice shards, hoping that if he got close enough, it would be harder to miss.
Seth rolled to his right, narrowly avoiding the barrage of deadly ice shards. Lunging out of his crouched position and charging foward, he attacked with his blade, just barely landing a hit as the frozen monster rose into the air.
This won't work, Seth thought as he clutched his blade tightly.
"Hey idiot, I got something for you." Violet ran up to him, holding up a pair of orange glowing wings.
"What are you gonna do with those?" Seth asked.
"Put em on." Violet handed the wings over to Seth, who wore them.
"I hope this works." Seth muttured.
Seth took a leap into the air and leaned foward, causing the wings to snap open. He then took a deep breath as they caught the wind and lifted him higher into the air.
Im flying! he thought.
Seth soared through the air and slashed at Cryogen, the monster did not expect the boy to be at the same height as it.
"Let's finish what we started!" Seth shouted.
Streaking through the sky, Seth banked left and right as he flew towards Cryogen.
Seth swung his grappling hook at the monster, smashing the hook into Cryogen's frozen surface; thankfully it stuck. Seth held onto the handle of the hook with all his strength as his body collied with the monster's cold surface.
Hanging from the grappling hook, Seth began slashing away at the creature, with each attack making the blade glow even brighter.
"It's over Cryogen!" Seth shouted as he jumped off Cryogen.
Cryogen turned to him and tried to regenerate his shield. But as Cryogen summoned ice shards to form his shield, Seth threw his Bloody Edge with all his strength. It tumbled end over end, narrowly making it through the icy shield, then stuck into the monster's side. The creature shuddered, causing the blade to dig in deeper.
The monster's shield shattered into many pieces, then tumbled towards the ground.
Cryogen glanced at his opponent, then tried to lunge at Seth, who was already flying away. The creature narrowly missed him, but the sword, still stuck in it's body, dug in again, causing cracks to immediately spread across Cryogen's surface. Cryogen glared at Seth one last time, before it shuddered, then exploded. The blast threw Seth backward a dozen miles, and when he hit the ground, everything went black.
[Yharim's Temple]"NO!" Yharim shouted in disbelief.
He had been watching the Terrarians battle Cryogen, and they had emerged victorious.
"Is everything alright, sir?" Draedon shakily asked, hoping not to become the unluckly soul who Yharim vents his anger on.
"It's fine, Draedon." Yharim clutched his head.
Draedon, seeing that his master was alright, went back to writing in his journal.
Yharim rested his head on the back of his throne and pondered.
How did they beat Cryogen with that Pre-Hardmode junk?
Yharim took a look at their gear and realised something about a weapon that one of the humans were wielding.
"Draedon, do you see that sword?" Yharim asked his scientist.
"Yes, I do sir."
"Doesn't that look familiar?"
Draedon looked at the blade closely and nodded his head.
"It can't be..." Yharim muttured.
[A few hours later]
Seth woke up with a start. He was on his back, staring up into a twilight sky where stars were just beginning to peek through the darkening heavens.
"Is he alive?" A voice asked.
He sat up and glanced around. Violet was putting an empty bucket back into her inventory, droplets of water still lining the rim.
"About time," she said.
"When Cryogen exploded, you were blasted through the air until you finally landed here," Miles explained. "I guess you passed out for a bit."
"Well I'm awake now." Seth shook his head as a dull ache filled his skull.
"You had me worried," Violet said, a scowl on her face.
"Really?" Seth smirked.
"It's not what you think!" Violet shouted.
Stella and Miles laughed at the situation, clearly amused.
"Looks like someone has a death wish." Violet said with a glare.
Immediately, the two of them stopped laughing, they knew not to make Violet angry.
"By the way, we captured an interesting individual." Miles said.
"Is it the guy who was frozen in Cryogen?" Seth asked.
"You gave it a name? Oh great..." Violet grumbled.
"Actually we captured someone else." Stella replied as she pointed at a tree.
Seth looked at the bark and gasped.
Tied to the tree, was another human like them.To be continued...
