I can't even describe the emotions I felt.
I hugged him tightly and choked back tears, I didn't say anything because I knew I'd break down.
His hand stroked my hair, "Is everything alright, princess?"
I felt my heart melt. He had so many nicknames for me, but princess was by far my favorite. I looked into his beautiful eyes, "Yes, thank you. I just," I chuckled to myself, "I just love you so, so much. Never forget that. I'll always love you."
He laughed. "That came out of no where," he smiled and kissed my forehead, "I love you too, now and forever." He walked me over to his car and opened the passenger door for me. I smiled up at him.
He's such a gentleman
We rode down the streets blasting Pink Floyd and screaming the lyrics, not caring who heard. I couldn't stop myself from staring at him. It was so surreal. He was there. With me. Everything was perfect.
We arrived at the ice rink. As he helped my out of the vehicle, I noticed it was where my grandmother worked on the weekends. I gasped and ran inside, not waiting for Cody.
My grandmother was my favorite person on this earth. She was always healthy, but passed in a tragic car accident when I was 24, the worst day of my life. I started to feel the emotions well up inside me as I ran in to see her.
My heart stopped.
She's right there.
Alive.
"Grandma!" I shouted to her as tears began to stream down my face. I sprinted to her with all of my might and she captured me with a hug.
"Is everything alright my dear?" She looked concerned as she wiped the falling tears off of my face.
"Oh, everything is more than alright. I just want you to know how bright you make my life. I love you, grandma. Never forget that."
She smiled up at me, "You know I'll never stop loving you, my dear. You are my sunshine, after all. Now, is that boy here with you? I needed to thank him for volunteering the other day." She immediately saw Cody and waved him over. She engulfed him in a hug.
"Thank you dear for all of the hard work you do. Treat my sunshine with the best of care. She means the world to me," my grandma smiled lovingly up at him. She always loved Cody as her son.
Cody kissed my grandmother's cheek, "Don't worry miss, she will be treated with the greatest care imaginable. I'll see that it stays that way for the rest of her life."
We waved our goodbyes to my grandmother, and I felt my heart sink. My grandma was my rock. I miss her deeply.
Me and Cody got out onto the ice rink and starting skating with ease. We twirled together, laughing as we did so. I accidentally tripped Cody and he brought me down with him. I landed on top of him and we lied there giggled for what seemed like eternity.
When we finally got back onto our feet, we were freezing. We decided to go for a coffee break. We walked out of the rink to Cody's car and, again, blasted music as we drove off to go get coffee.
