The two men walked side by side through the streets of Brumley, the atmosphere between them slightly tense and awkward. "Look, Eric can we talk about last night?" The younger lad gave a hum of approval and slightly nodded. "Are—are we ready to accept what a relationship like this would mean, should we decide to pursue it?"
"Nobody needs to know, Gerald. We're both respectable men, nobody would ever guess that we're involved like this. They'd assume we're just remaining bachelors so we can go for more women guilt free." That's a fair point, Gerald thought. Not many would ever even consider it considering we've had open relationships with women in the past.
"We'll have to be extremely careful. Keep things routine. Perhaps we could organise daily meetings under the guise of our parents' companies?" Eric nodded at Gerald's notion. "That sounds perfect. Father might lay off your previous relationship with Sheila if we can keep things strong between our businesses."
"Perfect! Then that's what we'll do. Now that we have that sorted, would you like to come to my own abode for a cup of tea? The servants are out, so it'd just be us two..."
"Of course, I'd love to, my dear."
The nickname made Gerald's heart skip a beat. It sank in that this relationship was happening now: he only hoped it would never stop.
