A month later
"Doll baby come on you look beautiful." He yelled up the stairs.
"I'm coming I'm just trying to keep the girls in place." She said as she came down the stairs.
"God damn what a dress." He said as she reached the bottom.
"You've seen it already." She said
"I know. But still baby God you look like a golden goddess tonight." He said
He helped her with her wrap and they left the penthouse. Mia was still adjusting to having a guy wait on her hand and foot. James raised his boys to be a gentlemen and chivalrous. When they arrived at the gala Bucky opened the door for her.
As they were about to come down the stairs Bucky kissed her. "You look gorgeous. And I need to know your drink order." He said
She smiled at him. "A vodka cranberry." She said as they walked downstairs.
He walked her over to his family. "Mom Dad this is Mia Matthews." He said with a smile.
"My girlfriend." He added.
"Nice to finally meet you. I'm Winnie and this is his dad James." Winnie said
"Nice to meet you." She said
"I'm gonna go get our drinks." He said as he kissed her cheek.
A few minutes later Bucky's older siblings arrived as Bucky came back with their drinks.
"These are my brothers. That Beau Joshua and Caleb. And their wives Delilah Beau's Allison is married to Joshua and Katie is married to Caleb. And that's my sister Alexis and her husband Zane and Caleb's twin sister Camryn and her fiancé Joel. And all my nieces and nephews are with the baby sitters." He said
She smiled at them all. "Nice to meet you all." She said
They all began to talk and get to know Mia. Bucky's friends and their families joined them. As they danced on the dance floor.
"You are shaking my darlin." He whispered
"I just.." she whispered
"Not trying to be pushy baby. But you need to get back in therapy. I think you being with Damien sat you back in that dark place." He whispered
She rested her forehead against his. "Baby I know it's hard. I know it can't be easy living with all that you do. But I do know that your sister is worried. Matteo and I talked at Thanksgiving he's worried too. We need to get you back on track." He whispered
"Why do you have to be so amazing Buck?" She whispered
He smiled. "Because somebody has to. Somebody has to show the world that not all the apples are bad." He whispered
She let out a laugh. "I like my apple." She said
"Oh you do." He said as she smashed his face against hers and kissed her.
"I like my apple too." He said as he dipped at the end of the song.
The following Monday morning after their workout. Mia called a therapist and set up an appointment.
