A week later
Bucky was coming back into town from being in Brooklyn. He had to meet with the board when he saw Mia at a hot dog stand.
"Ralph. Stop the car." He said to his driver.
Ralph pulled over and he got out. Bucky caught up to her just as it was her turn.
She ordered her and he placed his told the guy it was on him. Bucky paid for both.
"James.." she whispered
"Where have you been?" He said as they went to his car.
He opened the door. "James I can't. We can't do this anymore." She said
"Please get in and we can go somewhere and talk." He said
She looked down as she reluctantly got in the car. He asked Ralph to take them to the penthouse. By the time they got their they both finished their hot dogs but it was quiet between them. When they got upstairs he went to kiss her.
"James don't. Please.." she whispered
"Doll baby please just tell me where you have been? I was worried you hadn't been to the gym. You weren't with Damien at the gala two weeks ago. He said you were sick..I went by Rutgers and it said your classes were cancelled. You won't let me have your phone number.." he said
"We can't see each other anymore. Okay? Can we just leave it at that. Can we just go back to how you don't know me at all." She said
"Mia I don't want to! How am I suppose to forget you when all I want is to be with you." He said
"You don't know anything about me. And if you did you wouldn't want me anymore. So please stop trying to look for me. Okay? I'm engaged to someone who works for you. And yeah it may not be perfect..but I said yes. So I'm gonna go.." she said as she kissed his cheek.
"Mia don't do this. You can call it off and be with me." He said as he turned around to face of her.
"Goodbye James.." she said as the elevator doors closed.
"Mia no!" He said as he cried against the elevator doors.
"Mia.." he whispered as tears fell.
Bucky asked his brother Beau to step in for him for a few days. He couldn't sleep thoughts of Mia kept him up. When he returned he was quiet and mainly kept to himself. Nobody knew what was wrong cause nobody knew he had been secretly courting Mia.
