Akaashi started to explain what we were learning about and what this project is. I was enchanted by his voice. Everytime we made eye contact, I instantly looked away. Something about making eye contact with people scares me.

"L/n, do you understand now?" he asked.

"Uh, yes. Thank you. You can explain even better than a teacher." I mumbled the last bit.

Apparently, I was loud enough that Akaashi heard my little comment. He gave me a small smile that could melt anyone. Is he even human?

"If you don't mind, can I ask you a question?" He nodded his head.

"Is your first name Keiji, by any chance?" I trailed off. He looked surprised when I had asked that question. I would have the same reaction as well.

"Yes, it is. Why are you asking?" he questioned.

"You, kind of, look like the Akaashi I knew from 10 years ago? Just more mature, obviously." I stated.

"10 years ago? I hope you're able to get into contact with him again." I'm literally sitting right in front of him.

I awkwardly chuckled. "Yeah, I hope so too."

"What school did you go to before you moved here?"

"Karasuno."

"That's nice. Were you involved in any clubs?" he enquired whilst writing down notes about the project.

"Yeah, volleyball. I was the manager of the boy's club. What about you?"

"I play volleyball, I'm a setter." You've always loved that position. I'm not even surprised it hasn't changed.

Akaashi gazed at the clock behind me and averted his eyes back to me. "We have to pack up now. Is it okay if I can get your number so we can work on the project after school?"

"Yes, that's fine. Just tell me when you're available."

I tore a small piece of paper out of my book and proceeded to write my number on to it. I folded up the paper and handed it to him.

"Thank you." Such a gentleman. I might catch fe-

The dismissal bell had rang indicating it was the end of the lesson. Most people had left the classroom since it was break but some stayed back. Their friends were waiting outside for them. How nice.

"Akaashi, hurry up!"

I turned my head to the direction of the voice and there he was, with a big smile on his face. I missed that smile.

"Have patience, Bokuto." Akaashi responded.

He's still the same energetic boy I remember him as. There's some obvious changes in his body, for example, his muscles. He didn't have his blazer on and he gave everyone a very nice show.

Akaashi turned to me and said, "I'll send you a message after practice and we can discuss the plans then." With that, he had left.

"Who was that pretty girl you were talking to, Akaashi?! Is she your girlfriend?" I was able to hear Bokuto's voice down the corridor as I exited the classroom.

"Y/n? That's a nice name!" Wait, they don't remember me. Maybe it's better that way.

"Y/n, can you make sure that you never forget me? Promise me you won't." Young Bokuto said. Y/n was surprised by the sudden proposal that her friend had brought up. Nevertheless, she nodded.

"I promise I won't forget you. Do you promise you won't forget me?"

"Of course! There's no way I could ever forget you. I love you way too much for that to ever happen." Bokuto declared.

"Why did you ask me to promise me that though? You're not leaving, are you?" she asked.

"No! I would never leave you or Akaashi behind without telling you. I would be sad if I didn't get to say goodbye. It's just, I had a dream where you left Akaashi and I behind without saying bye. When we saw each other again, you didn't remember us." Little droplets of tears had landed onto his hand.

"If you were to ever leave us, I want you to tell us. I want to be able to say goodbye before you go. I don't know when I'm going to see you again or if I'm going to see you again if you ever decide to leave. I don't want to lose you." Bokuto's voice had cracked in the middle of the last sentence before he started to sob uncontrollably.

Y/n stepped in front of Bokuto and cupped his cheeks. She wiped the tears away from his eyes before engulfing him into a big hug. He wrapped his arms around her and rested his head on her shoulder. There was a comfortable silence that rested between them and the only thing you could hear was Bokuto sniffling.

After a moment, Y/n decided to speak up. "If I were to ever leave, you would be the first person to know. I would never, ever, forget you or Akaashi. You guys mean a lot to me."

"Are you guys done being overdramatic?" spoke a monotone voice behind them.

Y/n and Bokuto separated from the hug only to realise Akaashi had been watching them the whole time.

"Akaashi, why did you have to ruin it?! Y/n and I were having a moment here!" Bokuto whined.

Akaashi blankly stared at the two of them before going back to reading. He did not have the energy to deal with this today.
