Chapter Two
Ally Of The Nether King
—When Dream was finally allowed to enter the meeting room, he was shocked to say the least.
Sitting behind a dark desk was a man that resembled Technoblade in the very least. He had a black band tied around his head, a stark contrast to his short pink hair that was flopped over it. Razor sharp tusks laid against a bored frown and blackish maroon eyes stared seemingly into Dream's very soul even with the mask that blocked his face.
"Dream, is it?" The king finally spoke, breaking away the tension that had began to build as the two continued staring at each other.
"Yes, your highness." Dream said, bowing slightly to show respect. He didn't want to be thrown in the dungeons just yet. The king just snorted and sat up straight, gesturing for Dream to take a seat."No need for formalities, call me Sapnap." He said with a toothy smile that showed off his tusks even more than before. Dream nodded, sitting rigid in the uncomfortable chair as nerves continued to pick at his social abilities.
"My brother said you're here for my alliance, are you?" Sapnap asked, cutting straight to the point much to Dream's appreciation."Yes I am." Dream spoke, cringing at how nervous he actually sounded. Sapnap hummed and stared at Dream behind folded hands and deep frown before looking away again.
"Best get to talking then, I don't just give out my kingdom's alliance with no reason." The king said, flipping a pen in between his fingers."I'm the leader my own nation. We've been at peace for decades but recently a new nation has been built near ours, sparking a war that's spread far too thin for anyone's safety to be guaranteed on either side." Dream began explaining and Sapnap gave hum in acknowledgement to show he was listening.
"Who started this war?" Sapnap asked curiously, setting the pen down.
"Well, I'd say the President of the nation. His name is Wilbur Soot. The nation, L'manberg, had been built abruptly so we had no knowledge of a war being planned until it was far too late to backtrack." Dream said, telling the most he could without losing his chance of gaining Sapnap's alliance.
"Why would they start war in the first place?" Sapnap asked and Dream resisted the urge to just shrug off the question.
"It all started when Wilbur claimed independence for L'manberg. Myself along with a few allies demanded that Wilbur surrender but he did not. We didn't have a choice but to fight back." Dream said, folding his hands as he fell completely silent."Tell me Dream," Sapnap finally spoke after moments of silence, "do you want my alliance to initiate more violence and insert dominance or to put the war to an end? Answer honestly.".
Dream continued to be quiet, his mind going a hundred miles per second at the Nether King's unexpected question. Of course he wanted the war to come to an end, many innocents had been killed because of it! But he also wanted L'manberg to know that Dream was the dominant one, that he was more powerful than their flimsy nation would ever be.
"I want the war to come an end. Many innocents have been forced into the middle of it and much bloodshed has already been made." Dream said before licking his lips, trying to find the right words to say next.
"And?" Sapnap said, a small upturn quirked at his lips as he waited for Dream to continue."And I do want to insert some dominance. I want L'manberg to know that I won't hesitate when my nation or my people come in harm's way or are threatened. That they need to know their place and that's below me." Dream said honestly, Sapnap just hummed again before both fell deathly silent once again.
As the silence dragged on, Dream felt his pulse quicken and his breath shorten as tears began to prick at the corners of his eyes. The intruding thoughts that told him what he didn't want to hear seemed to grow louder as Sapnap stared at him with a frown. The King didn't seem very interested in what Dream had to say and his expression said as such.
Just as Dream opened his mouth Sapnap spoke with the same disinterested look on his face.
"Alright Dream, I'll give my alliance but for a price. As I said, I don't give my alliance to anyone and most definitely not for free." Sapnap said and Dream nodded, his mind coming up with things that the Nether King would find worthy of his alliance.
"I want you to take me with you." Sapnap said and Dream's mind short-circuited, his jaw hitting bottom of his mask in shock.
"With me?" Dream managed to ask and Sapnap nodded."Take me back to the overworld with you. If you didn't know, I can't come to the overworld without an overworldling with me. I see this as the perfect opportunity to do so and will keep my right hand on the throne until I return." Sapnap said and stood, reaching out his hand for Dream to shake.
"Well? Do we have a deal or not?" Sapnap asked with a playful tilt of his head, thankfully easing Dream's panicky state a bit.
"Of course we do, your highness." Dream said with the same amount of playfulness, shaking Sapnap's hand as a final agreement.Their hands clasped against each other tightly, sending shocks through Dream's body. He hadn't touched anyone in years so it was a unexpected feeling from being touch deprived.
"I'll come collect you when I'm done packing and ready to go- oh!" Sapnap stopped at the door as if just remembering something.
"Ask a guard to take you the armory, collect what you want but don't wipe the chamber clean. If they give you trouble just come to the throne room, I'll set things straight." Sapnap said and Dream nodded before he left the room, leaving the masked man standing alone. He already liked Sapnap way more than Technoblade, how were they even related?
