The Junior Military Academy was hard, based in Galveston Texas we learned everything we could about being in the military; and I mean everything, we learned hand to hand combat, shooting, computer hacking, how to fly a plane, and everything else you could think of all by my freshman year of high school. The Junior Military Academy was basically training us to become mini assassins, but I met my best friends there. Nick, Dwayne, and I had all been in training together since we were little kids in the 5th grade. We always pushed each other to be the best, that's why we were always top 3 in everything. Nick was the genius in the group he was a master at computer hacking, but no one should ever doubt his fighting he was fast as lighting and could figure out your next move before even you knew. Then there's Dwayne he was he strong one in our group, he had been working on his family's' ranch since he could walk so when the academy started training him he only got stronger, he could just about carry a car. Finally, there's me, Skyler I was a fighter, gun shooter extraordinary that's why I was the leader of age group which consisted of me, Nick, Dwayne, and 7 other people. Life at the academy was great I got to see my friends, learn what I love to do, and I still went to high school like a normal person; then one day my dad got a job offer in some middle of nowhere town in California, so we left Galveston with the condition that I could continue my training and every school break we had I got to come back.

Welcome to Pixley, was the first sign I saw after waking up from our two hour car ride from LAX. My parents and I hadn't discussed where I would be continuing my training or even what school I would be going to seeing as there were no places like the academy on California and even if there was I doubt some nobody town like Pixley would have one; but I was too tired to think about that and seeing as it was Friday I had all weekend to ask my parents these things, so I let my dreams takeover in my head and went back to sleep.

~ It was the 8th grade we had just finished taking our physical exams to see where we would end up ranking this year; Nick, Dwayne and I were all gathered in my room waiting to see where we would end up. Everyone knew it was going to be us placed somewhere in the top 3 we had pushed each other hard and trained harder than anyone, we were only waiting for our rankings to be released because who ever got ranked 1st became team leader. I was so nervous we all were then finally we all got called down the ranking ceremony which was a big party held at the end of our training that signified that we were ready for an all new leave that we could do small combat missions. No one ever knew this but the 3 of us had all promised each other know matter how we rank we would always be friends, that we wouldn't let the rankings come in our way. The ceremony was amazing they gave us a buffet which to us was the best thing seeing as we had all been on a strict eating diet since the we entered the academy. Each group was called up given the individual rankings and then we went up group 11. I wasn't nervous to say the least I was more anxious. "Ranking 3rd with an overall 90/100 Nick Ramsey!" The joy I felt for his was unreal but the joy I felt for myself was even more overwhelming that I could be ranked 1st I almost couldn't contain my excitement. "And finally ranking 1st with a score of 104/100 breaking the Junior Military Academy exam record of 102/100...." after he said that they had broken the record it was like I was in my own world stopped out of excitement that maybe possible I had don't it I had broken the record, I didn't even hear him call my name Nick and Dwayne had to push me forward I was so shocked." ~

I was awoken by my mother shaking my leg telling me we were home, but I knew this place could never really be my home, home would always be Galveston Texas, home would always be the academy.

As I stepped out of the car I finally noticed our new house it was nothing fancy a two-story white house with green trim and a brick fireplace. As we collected our things for the night not wanting to unpack the trailer we walked inside and immediately I was greeted by a modern day living room to the right which a small closet for storage that connect to the kitchen and to the left a dining room which had a small counter and bar stools which also lead to the kitchen. As I walked up the stairs there was 2 bedrooms each containing their own bathroom to the left and to the right an obvious master bedroom. As I looked about in both bedroom attempting to decide which would be mine I end up choosing the one furthest down the hall which contained a bay window and a secret compartment hidden in the back of the closet. As I lead my sleeping bag on the bay window deciding this is where I would sleep for the night seeing as all our was still in the trailer, I began to think about my best friends and how they were doing and even though there was a three-hour time difference I decided to text them anyway telling them I had made it and that I already missed them and finally decided to get some sleep.

I watched as the sun rose my body having already woken me up thanks to all the morning wake up calls our drill sergeants had given us. I read the text I had received that morning from Nick and Dwayne telling me they missed me and that even though we were now 1,472 miles away from each other we would always be best friends and they promised me that as soon as I came to visit for the summer - which in my luck was only 2 months away seeing as it was near the end of March – we would go back to training and trying to outdo each other just like old times. Deciding I had spent enough time in my room I walked down stars to be greeted by my parents who had already begun to move things into the living room and kitchen.

It was around six in the afternoon when we finally had everything moved in and set up. As I walked down stairs again after setting up room I walked into the kitchen to finally talked to my parents about where I would continue my training and were I would be attending school.

"What's on your mind sweetie" my mother said in a loving tone. "Well I was wondering where I would be attending school, you and dad said you had already found a place you wanted be to go to, but you never told me." I said back trying to make it sound like I wasn't still upset about the move. I had decided that I would try to come to terms with the move because there was nothing I could do about it now. "Well sweetie you mother and I thought a lot about where to send you and we decided that we want you to go to this really nice private school, it's called Sacred Heart." My father said as if I was a time bomb ready to explode at any second. "Oh ok, well you also said you would let me continue training well we were out here, can we start looking for a place for me to train tomorrow?" "Of course, sweetie but we need to go buy you school supplies also your new school has a uniform, so we need to go buy that" my mother told me. "Alright well I'll be in my room." "Ok sweetie we ordered pizza it should be here any minute." My father said as I walked away and headed for my bedroom.

When I entered my room I immediately sat on my bay window silently deciding that this was my favorite spot in my entire room. Not wanting to think about school and looking at the time I decided to facetime Nick and Dwayne. As I waited for the call to connect I looked around the room and promised myself that I would try and make the best of my situation.

After hanging up with the boys and finishing two slices of pizza I decided to go to sleep, seeing as I have a long day of school shopping tomorrow.
