~Chapter 1~
“What’s happening to him?” Michelle asked frantically, standing up and heading towards Dan. The man’s eyes went back to normal and Dan had the ability to move again.
"What do you want?" Dan asked, backing away slightly. His body had felt so stiff and he was trying to relax his muscles. He glanced at the man, who had an anxious look on his face.
"Calm down, I'll explain everything; stop jumping to conclusions before you understand the whole situation,” he said, pinching the bridge of his nose and sighing in frustration. He had not been impressed by Dan’s actions.
Dan paused for a minute and stared at him, contemplating if he should believe the man or not, and after a while he sighed and decided to believe the man, even though the rational part of his mind said not to. "What's your name?" he had asked, keeping his guard on and checked if he was about to do something fishy.
"Samuel,” the man, Samuel stated and leaned on the dark walls of the alley, crossing his arms and bending his leg and placing it on the wall as support. Michelle noticed how his abnormal pale blue eyes shimmered, holding a dangerous yet sincere glint in them. They looked like they could have looked into her soul.
"Well, we’re not telling your our names for obvious reasons, I don’t have a legitimate reason to be talking to you right now, give us a reason why we should," said Michelle snapped, her nose scrunching up at the sight of Dan’s clothing which were soaked in blood but yet the smell of blood was fascinating.
"This is a simple misunderstanding, just here me out ok?" said Samuel, his forehead creasing in irritation. He shot her a small glare, his eyes turning slightly darker but turned back after a while.
“Go on then,” Michelle said, her manners slipping away. Her mother would have scolded at her foul mouth if she was there.
“I was attacked, you guys just got in the middle of things, what were you doing at this time of the night anyways?” Samuel didn’t want to talk about the feud with two amateurs. The feud was too complicated for them to understand, it was even getting complicated for Samuel to understand.
“So why were you carrying my girlfriend with blood all over you two?” Dan snapped, giving Samuel a sharp look that showed he wanted to know more. Samuel, annoyed by Dan’s persistence to know everything. He had no idea how Michelle could handle him.
“Because she had my scent on her, the attacker thought she had something to do with me so he attacked her; does that explain it to you?” Samuel said, but they didn’t understand at all. They didn’t know how one could have someone else’s scent on them. The human nose couldn’t simply notice someone else’s scent on someone. It wasn’t natural to do so.
“How do you know she had your scent on her? What are you? A dog?” Dan snapped rudely, earning a sharp glare from Samuel. He hated the fact that they have continuously been disrespecting him when he saved their lives. His patience was dimming and he knew if he didn’t control himself, he would kill them for the disrespect they were showing towards him. Not many lived after showing a lack of respect around Samuel.
“I’d like it if you try to talk like civilized people, I’m not one to let ungrateful beings to show disrespect and get away with it,” Samuel hissed, his eyes darkening threateningly and holding a piercing glare. They both backed away, trying not to meet his eyes in fear that his glare would make them burn to ashes.
“Sorry,” they both murmured like kids that were caught stealing candy. Samuel chuckled, lightening up the mood. His chuckles bounced off the walls, creating an echo.
“It’s alright,” he shook them off as if nothing ever happened. They hesitantly ignored the tension and nodded, pretending Samuel didn’t just snap at them. “Follow me; it is not safe here,” he said wisely,
"I think going home would be better for us, thank you very much,” Michelle said as calmly as she could, trying to fight herself from scoffing in disbelief. She couldn’t believe the man wanted them to follow him. ‘Who knows if he was a rapist looking for innocent victims?’ she thought.
“Look, I’m not a rapist Michelle, I saved your life, if I was a rapist, I would have just fucked you right there,” his bluntness was amusing, yet scary. Michelle, who was chuckling, stopped at the realization.
“How the hell do you know my name? Are you stalking me? Cause if you are… I have the police on speed dial,” she said in a matter-of-factly way, whilst Samuel who held a look of amusement chuckled.
“Don’t flatter yourself beautiful,” Samuel was interrupted by Dan’s uncomfortable cough. Michelle’s blush wasn’t helping the situation either. Even though Samuel could have been the bad guy in Michelle’s situation, he was intriguingly handsome, with the enigmatic aura coming off him. ‘Hot’ she thought, her cheeks burning slightly while she fought the blush that threatened to show.
“It is dangerous for you to be alone at this time, you guys need to be separated or else you’ll end up killing each other, and well, no one wants that,” Samuel said with a stern look on his face. They couldn’t tell if he was joking or not.
“Look, what I said probably made no sense to you guys, when Dan saw me holding Michelle, I was saving her from my… friend Henry, he had thought she was someone special to me and did something to her that made her lose too much blood, I had to insert a special venom into her to keep her alive, that was when you came in all heroic, which was a bad move because Henry thought you were coming for me and hit you, you passed out, lost blood so I had to insert venom into you too,” he explained but there was a questioning lingering in the air, just waiting to be asked.
“What venom? And how? Is it like steroids or cocaine?” Dan asked dumbly, while Michelle tried to find out why the man would even consider putting venom inside of them. Samuel, who didn’t seem to like Dan, rolled his eyes and sighed in frustration.
“Would you please kindly raise your hand and feel your jugular for any abnormalities?” he asked in a mock posh British accent. They did as they were told curiously, secretly thinking of walking away from the strange man.
They both gasped as they felt two gaps on their necks. Like holes on their necks. No matter how many times they checked again and again, but the holes was there no matter what.
“What is this?” Michelle asked fretfully. Dan was in a state of shock, trying to not believe the possibilities of how he got the two holes in his neck. It wasn’t believable.
“Vampire bites, you two will transform into vampires in approximately three hours,” Samuel said, holding a guilty but determined look on his face. He glanced at his watch and grimaced.
“Make that two hours and fifty eight minutes,”
Tick Tock.
