The Ravenclaw trio was used to sitting in silence, but never in the thick, uncomfortable silence that had wrapped around them since they woke up half an hour ago. The only exchange that had happened between them was of grunts, which somehow led them to know that the three wanted to move towards the girls' dorm.
Since arriving, Monet had fled to her bed and wasted no time in wrapping herself into a cocoon of blankets, while her friends settled for sitting on Charlie's bed. That had been almost an hour ago, and they were still sitting in silence: Monet avoiding eye contact at all costs while Adam and Charlie were having a silent conversation.
In the end, Adam won the silent argument and broke the silence himself- "So," the blond who was back to being human was hoping his friend would look at him but she only echoed back his word without looking away from her pillow.
"You're gay." this time around his blunt statement got the attention of the brunette who ended up looking like a deer caught in the headlight. Adam's victory was short-lived because before he could even smirk in victory, Charlie was smacking the side of his face with one of her pillows.
"Adam!" she reprimanded her best friend with a deathly look before turning to the silent girl sitting on the bed in front of hers- "Monet, you don't have to explain anything to us," she made sure to maintain eye contact with her while ignoring the grunting boy whom she had knocked out the bed.
"I-," the shy girl tighten her grip on her pillow and went on- "I'm so sorry Charlie, please don't be mad" her voice was just above a whisper which made Adam's snort of laugher sound much louder than it was.
"Me?" Charlie asked in disbelief, deciding to ignore Adam altogether. She was sure Monet could hear the confusion in her voice but for good measure, she asked- "Why would I be mad?" she wasn't sure what was amusing Adam so much but Charlotte was ready to throw him off the bed once again.
"I kissed the one person you despise the most, and she happens to be your cousin."- her words were rushed but the redhead understood everything perfectly. And the guilt hit her instantly. Who knew how long had Monet felt like she couldn't like Lily just because of their stupid rivalry. And now that she did tolerate Lily, she hadn't been able to tell her so- "God, I want to die right now" Monet's dramatics snapped Charlotte out of her thoughts and she decided that while she couldn't tell her friends just yet that she was in good terms with her cousin- or why, she could remedy this.
"Monet, stop acting like Adam"- she chided as she stood from her bed and turned towards her nightstand. Hidding below her class books and a handful of scrolls was the one thing that made partying with Adam doable- "Here, drink this," she offered her brunette best friend a hangover potion.
As she handed over the small vial Adam decided to speak up- "You drank the punch didn't you?"- the other girl mutely nodded before drowning the potion- "Monet, you never drink the punch at a party" Adam went on as he tried not to sound too amused at Monet's groan of disgust. Sobering up potions didn't just smell bad, they tasted horrible, but they did the trick.
"So, you're not mad?" Monet asked Charlie once again after a prolonged silence. This time around, Charlie wasn't as sweet as the first time around- "Why would I be mad? Look, I will not stop being your best friend just because you like Lily,"- Monet opened her mouth but before she could try to interrupt, Charlie went on- "And, Lily is not all that bad,"- before she could be questioned about her statement she quickly added- "I mean, not if you like her,"
Her last words were true. After spending so many nights brewing together, the cousins had undoubtedly come to not only tolerate each other but like each other.
"I had my suspicions that you were into girls," Adam suddenly spoke up, making both girls turn towards him.
"You did?" Monet's disbelief was palpable in her voice. Thankfully, it seemed like she was slowly but surely returning to her usual self. The vulnerability that had coated her voice mere minutes ago was melting away, and she had lessened her grip on her pillow.
