The wind swished through Emery's hair as the boat sped off to the mainland. she hadn't been to Greece since she was a little girl and was feeling very reminiscent. Derrick managed to fill her in on some of the guardianship information that he had learned. He was also sure to tell her that he wasn't positive if he could be her Guardian and that he didn't want her to give her hopes up. Emery didn't know how she felt about the whole thing. On one hand, she didn't want to burden Derrick with her family's drama. On the other hand, she knew her grandparents weren't getting any younger so she might be in the same position yet again. Besides even if she wanted Derrick to be her guardian It was still his choice to make.
The boat finally made it to port, they grabbed their luggage and walked off the boat. Once off the boat, a driver was waiting for them. Emery recognized the unknown driver immediately. "Basil how are you?" she squealed as she ran into his arms. The older man smiled as he wrapped his arms around her to return the hug. "I'm doing good kiddo, and how are you doing"? he asked in a reassuring tone.
"I'm doing okay but could be better you know" Emery spoke as a small smile graced her Solomon face."I can understand that" Basil replied back. He opened the door for her to get in and put her luggage in the back.
"Ahh, and you must be Mr. Derrick Reed" Basil spoke in an inquiring tone.
"Yes, it is nice to meet you Mr. Basil" Derrick greeted the man while holding a hand out to shake.
"likewise" Basil spoke while shaking Derrick's hand.
Soon they were in the car and headed to Emery's grandparents' home. Once they pulled up a few people were already outside waiting to greet Emery and Derrick.
Emery immediately hopped out of the car. "Yaya, Papou I missed you so much the teenager squealed in happiness. Her grandparents greeted her with open arms. They too had missed their Granddaughter. Soon they were settled in having tea and catching up. "How is school going love?" Yaya asked her blooming granddaughter. "School is going great and I'm all caught up thanks to derrick Emery stated while giving Derrick a smile. "That's just great honey" Papou spoke to his beloved granddaughter. "Emery why don't you go to the pool house there are a few people who have been waiting to see you all day, Yaya told her granddaughter. "Okay Yaya" Emery replied back obeying her grandmother's wishes. Once she left the table the adults began conversing.
Emery~
I could feel the tension between my grandparents and Derrick at the table so I was relieved when Yaya told me to leave. Derrick would have to deal with the sharks himself.
"Long time no see." Emery's mouth twitched into a huge smile. " Gabrielle I missed you" Emery squealed while pulling him into a hug. "
The boy welcomed his younger cousin into his arms "The sharks seem to be giving your teacher a hard time?" Gabe spoke while letting his cousin go.
Emery looked over to see her grandmother Practically turning red and her grandfather with a disapproving look etched into his face. "Trust me when I say that Derricks a big boy and can handle the sharks."
Gabe smiled seeing that his younger cousin's sass was still prominent.
"Come on I know some people who can't wait to see you" Gabe pulled his cousin into the pool house. Once inside she spotted a few familiar people her twin cousins Nerina and Nikolas. She also saw a few of her friends who she would play with when visiting Greece and mysterious boy.
All of her friends and her cousins came running towards her and practically dog-piled onto Emery.
She quickly found herself giggling up a storm and enjoying herself. Once she managed to pull herself free from the pile a hand comes down offering up help. She accepted the hand and it pulled her to safety. Once she was standing she looked at the person who helped her up and was met with piercing grey eyes, light brown hair, and a goofy smile. She hadn't even realized that he was speaking "My name is Andreas you must be the famous Emery everyone is talking about?" Emery's cheeks began to blush red realizing that she hadn't answered his question for a solid few seconds and she quickly began to speak "All good things I hope." The boy wore a cheeky smile adding "of course"
