Hello, I am ghost, a female short-haired cat. I live alone in the middle of the woods. I cannot hunt because of my white fur, it stands out in the mix of dark browns and greens of the forest. I was abandoned by my family because I was the runt of the litter. I am starving. I have been shown no mercy from nature, but not everyone is born to live a long life. My small, pink paws ached and my stomach growled furiously. I could do nothing here but die. The trees loomed over me like angry giants waving their arms in the air. The fallen leaves of autumn were a dark, soggy mess upon the floor. I shuffled along the forgotten path and deeper into the heart of unknown territory.
My frosty fur was matted and the sky's tears dripped from each little strand. Mist clouded my eyes and silence covered my flattened ears. Dampness clogged my nose and wind blew my fur. My tail was swishing violently in the cold breeze. I was shivering. With each step I took the closer I was getting to my end. I stopped at the smell of humans. I could feel their warmth already. I could taste their delicious food. I could sense a place to rest. A light shone in the distance. A flickering light, full of heat and comfort. I trampled along. I knew I wasn't going to make it, but I will die knowing I tried.
I collapsed before I could make it... Darkness fell over me like water from a tap. I felt something lift me up, it was warm like sunlight but rough like a wave in a storm. I could see dancing flames behind my eyelids. Did Hell await me?
I was placed on a soft surface just like a cloud but it was smooth like a new pillow. It was slightly silky to. Opening my eyes to the new world I thought was there, I saw nothing but a large, orange tent and a grown man in a blue sleeping bag covered in red rockets. Looks like I will live another day.
