Growing up means realizing a lot of your friends aren't really your friends. ~Unknown

Growing up Harry was very smart, but didn't have many friends, he was a lonely boy who was ignored by everyone, but his family. There were no lies when it came to them, he didn't finally accept they didn't love him until he was no longer a child.

As a child he didn't understand that they despised him, recoiled from his very existence. Hoping like a sock he would up and disappear never to be seen again. And for a child who's exact instinct was to rely on those older to care for him didn't(read: want to) understand the reason for there punishments, and when people don't understand things they choose to ignore it and so that began his journey of trying to make his family love him.

When he was a babe he was quiet, because they got mad when he cried. He didn't want that he wanted them to be happy, so he didn't.

When he was a 11 months he started walking, hoping that would make them happy, although all it did was make them angry as Aunt Petunia made him walk more like hobble to his cupboard. It confused him though because when Dudley started walking at 18 months they were so happy. He even got a cookie!

When he began talking it was the same, but this time he told them after Dudley had already showed him. They just growled and told him to shut up.

Instead of giving up he tried again when he was 2, but this time Aunt Petunia smacked him hared enough so that he fell, and got a cut on his head.

That simply felt like a  beginning to when they started to pay attention, when they made him do things, chores like things older kids could do. Like doing laundry and washing dishes, they even tried to make him cook but he was too short. So they huffed and punished him for being too small before sending him to his cupboard.

And when they turned five and started school, he learned that good grades wouldn't make them happy. Especially when they got calls from the school saying he was gifted, so he learned to learn by himself which was important, because they soon turned the teachers on him to.

Over the years Harry adapted and learned 3 key lessons:

1. Be silent and dumb

2.Cover up, you're look disgusting

And lastly the most important,

3.Never, and I mean NEVER  try and fight back

There was also something he didn't acknowledge besides their blatant hatred and that was his birthday tradition, instead of realizing for what it was he reveled in it. It was something special just for him and it's been like that since he was four.

Some people had parties he had his engravings!

They were when he got a new word engraved in his skin always below collar with a very hot piece of metal before they threw cold salt water on him.

It was strange but it was his so he appreciated it, and would tell his uncle so every year at the end.

A part of him always knew it was bad, that he shouldn't be treated this way, but his Aunt always said he could be at an orphanage, how disgusting they were. And how lucky he was to have a loving family like them, before backhanding him to the ground and digging her heels in his leg in his back as she walked over him.

And, so Harry buried those questions in his mind, not accepting those obvious truths and never complaining or getting angry.

not when Dudley destroyed his flowers

Or when he and his friends beat him up.

Or when they broke his bones.

And sooner or later there will be the last thing to break the camels back, or in the words of another one bad day...
