I haven't talked to Rebecca in about two weeks. She has called me so many times, I've lost count. I know she regrets kissing Nick, but I can't bring myself to forgive and talk to her.
James and I have actually become really close after Katelyn's party. I opened myself up to him like a book. He listened to everything I said, I trust him, but I've learned I shouldn't trust people so easily... Especially with my secrets.
"Hey? Hailey, you there?" James asked through my cars speakers. He was on my Bluetooth speaker while I drove to the super market.
"Yeah, I was just thinking."
"So, what's up, why'd you call me?" His voice sounded concerned, at least one person in this world cares about my feelings.
"She called me again..." I trailed off knowing that he understood, then continued, "My mom is still mad at me for giving up on such a long best friend relationship. I tried explaining what happened..." I trailed off again as I felt tears swell in my eyes.
"But?..." He led me to continue.
"But," I answered with a shaky voice, "she still doesn't get it. I told her everything it just made the situation worse. Also, she still doesn't like how close I am with you, being that you are twenty, but my dad and you are the only ones who are on my side. Everyone at school, all my friends, my enemies, everyone thinks that I was in the wrong!" Suddenly I realized I was shouting with loud sobs as I talked.
"I get it, you feel betrayed by everyone around you and it's hard to feel secure and safe right now." It was weird, with every word he spoke I felt like James was right here next to me. "Ugh, I have to go, my boss is looking for me, call me later, okay?"
"Okay, thanks, James, this means a lot to me right now," I really do need him. Without my dad and James, I don't think I could be living with myself at the moment.
"Bye."
"Bye," I wiped the tears off of my cheeks and pulled into Shop Rite's parking lot. My dad texted me a list of groceries, it consisted of many different cereals, milk, fruit, and other random food items.
I smiled as the automatic sliding doors opened in front of me. Those doors have always fascinated me. As I began to walk in the sweet smell of flowers rushed through me, daffodils? A large group of people were also walking in, but we payed no attention to each other. To the right are the cash registers and the left has fruits, vegetables, and other salad necessities. I instantly went to the left and picked out a few apples and pears, I love pears.
Time, surprisingly, flew by as I was shopping, it was probably because I was riding the shopping carts. As I stood in line I saw the back of someone familiar. They're hair was a dark brown and it was short, they also had a red cap on and jeans with a grey and blue shirt. I could tell it was a guy, he was tall and some what fit.
I kept trying to see who it was, but when I finally did, I couldn't believe my eyes...
