------------------------------------------------------
I stood at the door waiting for Rebecca to pick me up from my house. I'd been waiting to go shopping to get prom dresses for months, but I had always procrastinated. Now it was finally time to play dress up and buy one.

Rebecca pulled up in her mom's red van then began to honk the horn. I ran out and jumped in the car. She smiled at me and began driving.

"So what's goin' on with Brandon? He ask you out yet?" I ask trying to be rid the silence.

"Well, no not exactly, we hung out yesterday, but I wouldn't say it was a date," I'm surprised he hasn't asked her, they obviously like each other. "What about you, has Nick asked you out?"

"You know I don't like Nick, he's just a really good friend, that's all."

"Yeah, yeah," she waved her hand around at me sarcastically. I gave her a glare, so she quickly looked at me with a smirk then turned her head back to the road.

I sighed, "Whatever." We arrived at the boutique a few minutes later. As we began waking in I stepped in gum on the sidewalk. "Eww! Ugh, these are new sneakers," I sigh as Rebecca laughed at me. I had to keep walking, so when we got into the boutique I took off my sneakers.

The boutique was big for a boutique, they manly had dressed with a few shirts, shoes, and others. The women who worked here gave me a judgmental look when I took of my sneakers. As I walked up with Rebecca she looked up at us and asked, "How may I help you?"

"We here to pick out two prom dresses," Rebecca answered.

"Sure, what kind of dresses, short, cocktail, gowns, etc?" She began to stand up and walk as we followed.

"I think I'd like a gown, and Rebecca you said you wanted a cocktail dress?" I turned my head to Rebecca.

"Um, no, I don't know. I think I'll be fine with anything."

"Okay then," the clerk said as she pointed to the dress racks, "Gowns are here, cocktail dresses here, and others are here. If you need anything just ask," and with that she walked back to the counter.

"Thank you," Rebecca and I said in unison. We both turned around to the dresses and started looking through them. Rebecca started with the cocktail dresses while I started with the gowns. It took us both about an hour to found our dresses. I bought a light blue gown with a beaded belt, while Rebecca bought a purple and grey gown with silver lining.

Our dresses had to be hemmed, so we decided to go to a cafe and talk. "I can't wait for prom!" Rebecca said while pulling a chair out and sitting down.

"I know, it's going to be amazing! Do you know the theme?"

"No, but last year it was under the sea." Last year was fun, even though we were only juniors.

"Yeah, it is kind of annoying that they don't tell us," the school never tells anyone.

"Yeah, but it is somewhat exciting to find out when you get there," she smiled, probably at a memory. After that we continued talking, but eventually it was time to go home, and after that to a party. It is going to be at my friend Katelyn's house, her parents are out of town for the weekend. The party starts at eight and is supposed to end at twelve, but it's a party, anything can happen.

* At the Party*

It took Rebecca and I thirty minutes to get ready, we are perfectionists. Rebecca is wearing a royal blue shirt with beading and white shorts. I am wearing a red and black shirt with denim shorts.

Katelyn's house is fairly large, it has three floors, including the basement. It seems like there are one hundred people here, then again Katelyn is popular.
