Summary: You had just moved to D.C. to be closer to shield, at Fury's request. Everyday you run around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, always passing the same man....until someone new shows up.——————————————————————————-
Being an avenger was pretty cool....it's awesome to see the smiling faces of civilians on TV....to know what we didn't something to protect them.
I loved my life in New York, I knew the people well. But when Nick Fury asked me to join him in D.C. I couldn't resist. I had a job to do, protect this world and the people in it....even if that meant moving.
I spent everyday with the same routine, first running around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. I would pass by the same man over and over again, he always got mad. Along with Teleporting, super-human strength, healing, flying, and Telekinesis I could run very very fast. But not as fast as an old friend named Pietro.
So this means I was doing laps around this man, I could run the entire length of the pool two times by the time he was almost finished with one side. I would run twenty miles in a span of ten minutes.
It was funny making this man upset, I had learned his name is Sam Wilson.
After pissing Sam off, I would catch up a bit with him then jog to the nearest coffee shop. I would spend thirty minutes writing in my journal and sipping coffee, then I report to Shield.
After work I find myself flying around D.C. taking in my new surroundings. Then bed....repeat.
My life felt boring....and I had only been here for two weeks.
But this particular morning was different, when I arrived I took off my jacket and started to stretch. This morning's weather was feeling pretty nice so I decided to wear a black sports bra, black leggings, and my black running shoes. But this time when I started my run in the early morning, Sam wasn't alone. Another man ran right passed him, "On your left." I hear him say to Sam, this pissed him off.
I smile and run passed Sam, "Catch up Sammy!" I yell. I run around the corner to the other man, "On your left." I mock him as I run past him.
"Don't pass me! Come on!" Sam yells as I pass him once more.
As the man catches up to Steve, I run past the two, "On your left!"
"Damn you!" Sam yells.
I run over to Sam as I finish my twenty miles, he was on the ground and the other man was laughing above him.
"Nice run." I smile as I crack my neck.
"Yeah right." Sam pouts.
The other man instantly turns around, his eyes widen when he sees me. "Ah....the famous Captain America. Good to see you again." I hold my hand out.
"Y/N...."
"Y/N Romanoff." I smile as he takes my hand.
"That's right, your Natasha's younger sister."
"Yup." I nod. "It really is good to see you again, I'm sorry I wasn't able to talk to you during the attack in New York." I nod.
"I'm sorry as well." He smiles widely.
"Do I need to call a medic for you?" I look over at Sam.
He holds up his middle finger, which I gladly return the gesture. "I haven't met anyone that's been able to run faster than me." Steve chuckles.
"Really? I feel honored."
"Give me time to stretch...I'll beat you." He smirks.
"In your dreams Rogers." I laugh.
"Let's do it....loser has to buy the winner dinner tonight."
"Alright, your on Rogers." I nod. "Take your time old man." I wink as I walk past him.
"Wow, the disrespect." Steve chuckles.
"This is amazing, watching two super-humans race." Sam laughs.
I take a sip of water from my bag as Steve starts to stretch. I look over at him as he bends down, my eyebrows raise as I smirk. Sam nudges my arm and smirks as he catches me, "What?" I ask innocently.
"Let's do this." Steve nods. "Two laps, starting here and ending here." He nods.
I take my place next to Steve as I bend down to stretch my back, I look up to see Sam and Steve leaning back and checking me out. "Ready?"
"Uh-yeah!" Steve blushes.
"Alright....ready...set...go!" Sam yells. Steve and I both take off, I let Steve stay ahead of me, knowing I could go faster.
After we make the first lap, I run ahead of him. I laugh as I round the corner and could see Sam, who was laughing loudly. I finally make it to Sam and throw my arms in the air. "Yes!" Sam high fives me.
Soon Steve catches up and bends down with his hands on his knees, breathing heavily. "You win...." He smiles.
"I think we need two medics now." I laugh.
"I think I did pretty good, I was right behind you." He smirks.
"Good job Rogers." I smile and high five him.
"I owe you dinner tonight." He nods.
"It's a date...Sam you coming for that Coffee I owe you?"
I look back at Steve and smile as Sam nods. I take a small piece of paper from my bag and write my number down, I give it to Steve. "Call me tonight.""Let's go." Sam nods.
"See ya Captain." I wink, walking away.
I couldn't wait for many more races with the Captain.
