When I walk to the place where we are going to do the ritual I am nervous. Either my vampire match is a vampire that I do not even know or it is Jade. I do not know what is worse. Secretly I wish it is Jade, but I am even more terrified that it is Jade as well.

For the ritual, the five vampires and I will mentally be transported to a maze. It is quite simple. Only people who are matched will be able to find each other because they are connected.

When I arrive the four vampires and Jade are already sitting in a circle. Jade looks up when I go and sit in the middle and gives me a small smile before looking away again. I give her a small smile back since I do not want to be rude, but I am still just as determined to stay far away from Jade.

After that, I focus on Emma, who is going to do the ritual. I close my eyes as Emma begins the ritual. After a few minutes, I find myself in the middle of a gigantic maze. Now that I am here I am a bit scared. Before we started Emma explained the ritual. The vampires that do not match with me will find a portal that will bring them back to the real world.

The siphoner and vampire that are matched cannot go back together until they find each other. That means that if none of the vampires is a match I will be stuck here. It is a risk, but it is a bigger risk to not match with a vampire and die, so I decided to try. I will not die while I am in the maze, but I risk being stuck here forever. It is quite cold here, so I decide to start walking in the hopes that I will get warmer.

I am getting more nervous and uncomfortable the more time passes. I cannot sense anyone, so that must mean that none of the vampires is a match. Great, stuck forever in a maze and it is cold here as well. My watch is luckily still working here and when I look at the time I realize that I have been walking for five hours. I decide to keep walking, cause it is a bit warmer while I am walking and there is no shelter to be found. Maybe there are some shelters to be found somewhere further in the maze. At least I hope so.

After another two hours of walking, I give up on finding shelter for now and curl up on the floor. I am cold and scared. They said I would not be able to die in the maze, but apparently being forever cold is an option. After what seems like an eternity I fall asleep.

When I wake it is only a few hours later, but still I get up to start walking again. I am seriously shivering now and regret deciding to lie down. After a few hours walking I have all but given up about the thought of someone being there and I am only thinking about finding some sort of warmth source. My magic is not working here, so that is not an option. It is looking very blank when it comes to finding warmth. In all the time I have been here I have not seen anything except the bushes from the maze. The plants are damp, so I also cannot use those to start a fire.  That is if I would have anything to start the fire with, which I do not.

After a while, I do not know how long since I have stopped looking at my watch a while ago I can hear something. It sounds like my name, but I must be hallucinating, no one is here. So I keep walking. After a few minutes, I can hear it again. And it sounds familiar. I am still wondering if I am hallucinating, but it cannot hurt to find out. It is not like I have anything to lose, well except my sanity of course. But if I am hallucinating that may already be too late.

Then I hear my name being called again, closer. It sounds really familiar and after a moment a name comes up in my mind, Jade. But that cannot be, she would have already been back home after finding the portal. She can hear her name getting called again and carefully calls out Jade's name. This is followed by Jade calling back and telling her to stay where she is. After a minute or two Jade appears and runs towards a shocked Josie. ''Jade?''

She actually looks a bit pissed off, which is weird for Jade. But I soon find out why she might be less than happy.

''Quick question, why would you walk the opposite side Josie, when you could sense where I was?'' ''I could not sense anything Jade'' ''But how did I find you then, if we are not a match how was I able to find and sense you?'' ''I have no idea, maybe Emma or Dorian will know.'' ''Yeah, maybe, here take my jacket. You are cold.'' She takes her jacket off and hands it to me ''Thanks,'' I take the jacket from Jade and put it on. I immediately get a little bit warmer once I put on the jacket. At least enough to stop shivering.
