It had been a long while since the fire.

Yes the majority of the village was burnt down, but something seemed so peaceful about it.

Like all your worries had left.

You did exactly what you promised your sister. You left the village. Its not like anyone would've taken you into custody if you had stayed there, who wants a runt to live with them?

The only belongings that home resonated from, was the mask of your sister and the clothes on your back.

A simple haori of your own stuck with you all these years. Only being cleaned by the nearing rivers. You kept the mask on at all times, not daring to show your face, fearing they would see you... your scars.

Turns out, fire takes a liking to burning flesh. Who would have guessed?

It just so happen to love using your tears as its primer, forming a single tear to etch into your skin, burdening you with the thought of your mistakes, your pain.

But now, life was happier.

Being alone and free was one of the best things to happen to you, nobody could judge you or tell you how your life should be led.

Well, not all alone.

Training to be a demon slayer meant living with another, of which had only seem your face two times.

Being taken in by Heinushi Ashido led you to a new future, a rough one, but one were the world could be at peace. Ashido Sensei was a former flower user, still wielding her blade and teaching you the ways of a demon slayer.

Though flowers never worked for you.

It must have been something to do with your past, the way you lived...

You had trained for around two years now, learning breathing techniques of your own, swordsmanship, 'Total Concentration Breath' as Ashido San liked to call it and how to sense demons.

It was an extremely rough two years, barely getting sleep for the first few weeks and always having to focus on controlling how you inhale, otherwise you would get waked.

"Well, it seems you've trained hard Y/N Chan... I can't teach you any more." Ashido smiled at the gravel below her. "All I can suggest is that you practice in what time you have left before final selection commences."

"Thank you Ashido Sensei, I promise to return with a smile. Who knows, maybe I'll take of my mask for good." You joked, trying to release the tension.

"That would be such a huge surprise." She laughed, "your scar is beautiful, always remember that little one."

You both let out a sigh, knowing that tomorrow could be you last day on this earth.

"Now, you must be on your way, I'm not going to have you turning up late!" She patted your back, a little too hard. Ashido handed you her blade, revealing the light green edge before placing it into your sheath. "Don't break it, or I break you!"

"Yes yes, I won't." You gave the woman a light, quick hug before lifting your mask up slightly to reveal a small smile. "I'll see you soon!"

You jogged off into the distance, making your way to Mt. Fujikasane.

<Final Selection>

Walking up the path was so peaceful. The wisteria illuminated the forest, you couldn't help but look around and play with them a little.
