Gabriel Agreste was a reserved man, and very intelligent. He prided himself on his ability to plan and his patience in watching the plan come to fruition.
One thing Gabriel didn't plan for, however, was his son's outright rebellion against him. Adrien had always been a good, rule-following boy. Gabriel made sure of that, for Adrien's own safety. Because of this, it was shocking to see that Adrien had broken into Gabriel's safe once again and stolen the Miraculous Grimoire.
"Why is he still showing interest in this book, even after I explicitly forbade him from entering the safe?"
"Perhaps he's only curious?" Suggested Nathalie, Gabriel's assistant.
"What reason would Adrien have to be curious? He's already learned that lesson. Besides, Adrien knows nothing about the Miraculous. Nathalie, I want you to listen in on his conversation with that girl and let me know why he's gotten the book out."
"Of course, sir," replied Nathalie, and she disappeared to do his bidding.
It was dangerous for Adrien to snoop through Gabriel's things, especially the items in his safe concerning his endeavors as Hawk Moth. He knew Adrien wouldn't understand that everything Gabriel did was to help him- help them- become a happy family again. Once Gabriel got power over reality from the Cat and Ladybug miraculouses, he planned to revive his wife, allowing them another opportunity at happiness.
But Adrien wouldn't understand.
Adrien was too... good. Too moral. He didn't realize that bad things had to be done for good things to happen.
But Nathalie did.
"Sir," said Nathalie. "Adrien wasn't only curious about the book. He was looking to show this girl something. He said- Sir, Adrien believes this girl could hold one of the lost miraculouses without realizing it."
"Who is this girl?"
"Corinne Blanche, sir."
"And how hard do you think it would be for one of your sentimonsters to find her?"
