Shoyo Hinata, you thought, keeping that name in the back of your mind so you'd remember it later, he was nice. A little jumpy, but he was very welcoming, and a bit lacking in intelligence. Although, he was very passionate about volleyball.
You walked into the classroom, a few minutes late because of the encounter that you had. The students paused and looked at you.
The teacher stopped writing on the blackboard and turned, "ah! There you are, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?"
Smiling faintly, you walked to the front of the class, fuck fuck fuck fuck. I don't want to do this. I don't like people- oh my god I really hate this.
"Uh," you swallowed, Taking a deep breath and composing yourself. You could do this, you'd been good at hiding emotions since the day you left this town.
"Hey, I'm (y/n) (l/n), I'm from (your country), I used to live here when I was young, but I moved away because of my father's business. I decided to move back, so I live by myself right now." You smiled, sweeping your gaze over the entire crowd, some people were murmuring to each other. Catching snippets of conversation. "She's cute..." you heard one person say, "she lives alone?" Coming from another.
"Thank you (y/n)," the teacher smiled at you, "you sit over there, next to the window."
After sitting through your first two periods of class and chatting with your classmates, who had a lot of questions for you. Classic transfer student trope-, you mentally sighed, although, I suppose I won't be finding any love here.
"HEY (Y/N)!" You heard a familiar voice call out, interrupting your thoughts. Glancing up at the door you noticed Hinata standing in the doorway, a taller boy standing behind him, he was quite handsome, with short black hair and dark blue-ish eyes. They look like a tangerine and a blueberry, you noted, suppressing a laugh and eyeing them in confusion.
"Hey Hinata. What's up?" You asked, still looking at the both of them,
"Hinata, why are we even here." The tall boy grumbled, glancing down at Hinata in annoyance
"Kageyamaa! You're so rude. She just transferred here and I wanted to show her around!" Hinata responded in a hushed tone, although it wasn't very quiet. Now, most of the class was watching them, some admiring the boy behind Hinata, who's name was Kageyama, and some in annoyance.
"Hey, (y/n) since you're new, I wanted to show you around. This is my friend from the volleyball club, Kageyama."
"Yeah, I figured." You responded, pushing yourself up from where you were sitting, "sorry, I'm gonna go with them, we can chat later." You said to the people you were talking to. Out of the corner of your eye you notice that the chair hit the desk behind you. A small blond girl with short hair glanced at you nervously. She seemed...afraid of you? Be gentle with people like her. A small voice in your head reminded you. "I'm really sorry!" She flinched, She was really anxious when I apologized. Is it trauma or something?
"No! It-It's perfectly fine!" The girl stuttered, silently contemplating something
"Really, I apologize, I'll be going now, uhh..." You went through the names of the students that were in your class "Yachi, was it?" I should compliment her, I really don't want her to be scared of me.
"Oh! I didn't think you'd remember my name." She seemed genuinely surprised.
"Huh, well your hair clip looks really nice on you," it was a genuine compliment, Yachi was cute.
"Really?" Her eyes widened. "Thank you so much!" She smiled, a genuine smile. That hit the mark. Glancing at the door, you saw Hinata smiling at you, Kageyama behind him glaring. You narrowed your eyes at him. Impatient prick. You grinned at Yachi, "I should get going, enjoy your day!"
"Oh, uh yeah." She replied as you walked away. You noticed people watching you as you walked over to the boys in the doorway. "So, what are we doing?" You asked Hinata, paying no attention to Kageyama, who was still looking at you pointedly.
"We're going to show you around." Hinata said giddily.
"Ah, well I figured as much, but where are we going?"
"To the gym." He said with much certainty. The...gym?, okay then.
"Oh." You replied and walked beside them. Hinata asked a lot of questions, and you realized that through experience. He probed about your family and your living situation whilst Kageyama just silently walked, sipping on a carton of milk leisurely. He asked one question, only one, when you approached the Karasuno gym.
"Do you play any sports?" He'd asked, you paused, memories of your old sports team drifting through your mind. Well shit. It's gonna be weird not having practices, although I suppose I could always join the team here.
"Well I-" You stopped, unsure of what to say. Hinata noticed your hesitation, and asked what was wrong, "sorry, I just hesitated, I kind of miss my teammates and friends."
"Okay, but you play a sport right?" Kageyama asked, Hinata hit him lightly.
"Yeah, I used to, back home." You composed yourself, and told them. "I used to play (Insert sport), our team was kind of a big deal."
"Woah!" Hinata exhaled. "Karasuno went to nationals once! Have you been to nationals, back home in (your country)?"
"No," you said softly, remembering the crushing loss, you were almost there, but you let everyone down. A sinister part of you whispered. You lost. It's your fault. Again, it reminded you of how your parents had reacted.
"(y/n). You lost." Your mother's voice clear as day in your head, immersing you in the memory. "Why did you lose? Why don't you put any effort into your (sport)," you heard a sigh.
"[(m/n)mother's name], I told you it was all a waste of time, and money, she doesn't care." Your father added. But it wasn't true, you'd tried your best to win, your teammates had comforted you as you collapsed to the ground, they were the ones who didn't care. They didn't understand.
"You're such a useless daughter." The words echoed through your mind, as they always have
"You never do anything right." Again, and again.
"You're a waste." They had said.
"I should throw you out right here." So you'd left. You'd cut off all communication and moved away. As the only way to deal with manipulative, narcissistic parents was to leave.
"Hey, (y/n). (y/n)?" You heard someone say, and realized you were still with Hinata and Kageyama. You looked up at them, and noticed that at some point during your recollection, you had sunken to the floor.
"Oh." That was all you had said. Your uniform was wet, as you had eventually started crying, the memories weighed down on your mind like cement, your breathing sped up and you were sobbing.
"My god, are you okay (y/n)? Hinata sat down next to you, and even Kageyama looked at you, mildly concerned.
"Go get Suga. Right now." Hinata said to Kageyama, who complied and walked away.
