I stared out the window of the car, my head against the seat. I watched as we drove past nothing but trees. I let out a sigh and looked away from the window.
"Why do we have to move" I thought to myself.
"We were fine where we were in New York" I thought as I turned my head back towards the window.
"Your going to make SO many friends at your new school!" My mom said from beside me.
"I liked my friends in New York" I thought sadly.Half an hour later, We arrived in BrookHaven.
When we got out of the car, We immediately walked in to our new house. The inside wasn't as horrible as I had thought it to be. The walls were a pastel blue with white trim, The kitchen had granite countertops with a gray refrigerator and a black stove with an oven beneath it and the floors were a beige wood.
"What do you think so far?" My mom asked.
"It's decent" I replied turning my head to look around.
"See? I told you it wasn't going to be that bad".
I chuckled. We brought our bags and suitcases in and I went upstairs to see what my room looked like.
When I entered my room I immediately covered my nose.
"Mom?" I asked, slightly coughing.
"What is it" My mom said coming from the beginning of the stairs.
"What's the smell in here?" I asked.
"Oh.." My mom said.
"It's probably cat. The old owners of the house had a cat". My mom explained to me.
"Oh" I said coughing."You have got to be kidding me" I thought.
I moved closer in to the room. It had sky blue walls and the same white trim. The room had an ivory carpet which was on wooden floors. The room had 2 windows which one of them overlooked the neighbors houses and the sidewalk. The room had a closet on the wall opposite from the window. I opened the closet which had a bar for hanging clothes up in and space underneath for anything extra.
I sighed.
"I guess I'd better go get my stuff" I thought as I walked to the door of the bedroom. When I returned with my things, I placed my luggage in the middle of the room. I opened my suitcases to find mainly clothes and some other items such as clothing hangers, Bathroom products, A few books and chess board.
"Okay Dahlia..You got this" I thought to myself.
As I unpacked my clothes from suitcase, I took the time to look out the window. It was a cloudy day but BrookHaven looked slightly promising.
By the time I was finished cleaning the closet and hanging my clothes up it was dinner time and I was starving.
"So, How is cleaning and unpacking going?" My mom asked as we sat at the table in the unfinished kitchen.
"It's going fine" I replied. "I hung all my clothes up" I say as I poke at some rice with my chopsticks.
"That's good!" My mom replied. "I'm getting as much done was I can." She said as she looked at the bucket and mop which were leaning against the wall.
"I still need to scrub the countertops.." She said as she looked around the kitchen.
I ate my dumplings and noodles quietly, occasionally moving my short pink hair out of the way to eat. When dinner was over, My mom and I threw away the Chinese boxes and I cleaned the silverware.
When I returned to my room upstairs, I opened the window for some fresh air. That's when I noticed the rock music coming from next door. I stuck my head out the window and saw it was coming from a guitar..being played by..a guy. It was pretty loud, Loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear. I attempted to get the guys attention from my window but it didn't work. I groaned and shut the window. I could still hear the loud music even with the window shut. I changed in to something more comfortable than my day clothes and I sat on my bed which had been moved in earlier. My mom came upstairs a minute later.
"Everything going okay honey?" My mom asked
"Yep everything's fine" I replied, Not acknowledging the loud music from next door.
"Alright" My mom said nodding her head.
"I love you" She said as she kissed my forehead.
"Let me know if you need anything" She said, walking out. "Goodnight" I replied.I laid my head down on the pillow and got under the covers. "Long day of unpacking and traveling" I thought to myself. "The annoying neighbor is still playing is stupid rock music..Doesn't he know people are trying to sleep?". Eventually I drifted off to sleep.
When morning came, I stumbled out of bed and walked down the stairs and in to the kitchen. Because of moving, We didn't have much food wise but we had some cereal so I poured myself some cereal. I took it up to my room so I could eat and get dressed at the same time.
"Today is my first day at BrookHaven High School..I'm still upset that I had to leave all my friends..Oh well I can't be distracted right now..".When I finished my cereal and for dressed I brushed my teeth and washed my face. I quickly brushed my short pink hair and decided to put two black hair ribbons in it for some style. Besides, It matched my white band T-shirt, My black pleated skirt, My white and black striped ankle-high socks and black combat boot.
"Not bad" I thought to myself.
After saying goodbye to my mom and grabbing my backpack I headed off to school. My mom had to work this morning and so I just decided to walk and use GPS. It was also a good way to get a good idea of where everything is in BrookHaven.
When I arrived at BrookHaven High School, I took it in. It was a beautiful building with 3 stories. When I walked through the front door I looked around for a minute and was trying to get someone's attention. But nobody paid attention to me. I sighed in frustration and kept looking around. That's when I noticed him. A boy with shaggy blonde hair leaning against the lockers. He looked familiar.. But from where..?
