Dream had walked into a strange situation indeed.

When Sapnap asked if he wanted to work directly with the royal family, he thought it meant that he would be one of the many soldiers that stood around all day in the castle looking intimidating. Being the personal bodyguard of the prince that nobody had ever spoken to was the least of his problems.

The problem now was that Dream felt utterly unprepared for anything that had happened in the past four days since he had arrived in the castle.

"Four days?" he thought to himself, "feels like longer..."

In four days a complete stranger had flipped his expectations upside down. It was strange to meet someone who was directly related to the people that made your life miserable. Even stranger coming to realize that this person made your life somehow less miserable.

Dream felt himself began to drift off into his thoughts but tried to focus on where he was to ground himself back to reality. The knight was standing in front of Prince George's bedroom after he had asked for some privacy. It had only been a couple of hours since the incident in the courtyard and Dream felt suffocated in the quiet that haunted the castle. Something about George kept tugging at the knight to reach out. He fought every instinct that told him to walk in and comfort him even as the curse seemed to stall for the moment. He debated whether or not he should ignore his training and try to make a friend. After all, it seemed like George needed one. Especially when Sapnap wasn't around.

Dream had known Sapnap since they began their training as soldiers and went up the ranks together. So, when Sapnap had met George and began working at the castle, Dream was the first to know.  At first he didn't believe it. A member of the royal family who wasn't insane or terrifying seemed like a fairy tale.

"Honestly, he's not at all like them. He's actually pretty normal..." Sapnap used to say, "Well, despite the whole curse thing"

Dream would be lying if he said the curse didn't freak him out a little. He often thought about what it would be like to have it and his admiration of George only grew. "Admiration?," he thought, "Is that the right word?"

"Dream?" He was shaken from his thoughts by the Prince calling his name.

          "Yes?"

He turned to George, who had opened the door, and realized the state he was in. His hair was unusally messy and his un-cursed eye was red like he had been crying. He looked down, his voice was barely above a whisper, as he said, "Can you send this off for me?" George held out a letter in his hand with shaky handwriting along the envelope.

"Of course," Dream said taking it from him. He was about to leave but he couldn't stop himself. "Are you okay?" He heard himself say.

George looked up at him. Dream felt like his eyes pierce straight through his helmet and felt like George could read his mind as he quietly stared. The prince then gave him a small and  forced smile, "... ask me again later," He said leaving his room and closing the door behind him, "I'll be in the library," he added quickly. The prince then walked down the hall without a glance back.
