The day was almost here. It was 10 pm on August 15, and Kaitlyn had Stephanie come over to spend the night at her place. Of course NFL Network was on- Kaitlyn liked to stay updated on what was going on, even in the offseason.
The girls had ordered Chinese food and had some wine with it, the empty cartons, plates, glasses, and bottle sat on the coffee table as Kaitlyn beamed with excitement.
"Steph, I'm not gonna get a single wink of sleep tonight!"
"You'll be okay, honey. Did you decide what you're going to wear tomorrow?"
"Yeah, my Wisconsin jersey... JJ's of course... And my cut offs. The ones that are right at my thigh."
"Good call, sweetie. You'll look amazing. Now try to get some sleep."
"Easier said than done," Kaitlyn thought to herself. She laid there, looking at the ceiling, wondering what tomorrow may hold.
The next morning she woke up thinking about how nice it would be to finally meet JJ and Aaron. She lost herself in the daydream again as she got in the shower. She washed her long, brown hair and it felt good to have the warm water rush over her. For just a moment, she pictured having JJ in the shower with her as she soaped herself up. She imagined her hands were his hands and completely lost track of time.
Stephanie knocked on the door. "Girl, are you drowning in there? We gotta get a move on!"
"Damn it," Kaitlyn thought to herself. Steph was always great at interrupting her at the wost possible time. "I'm finishing up, Steph!," she yelled as she turned off the water, grabbed a towel, and started to get dressed. Her jersey was just snug enough to show off her nice figure, and her shorts did the same, as they showed her long, lean legs. She decided to go with just a bit of light make-up, sweeping a bit of color on her cheeks and eyes. She gathered her ponytail up after curling the ends of her hair. She used a red and white bow to finish it off. She slipped on her white flip-flops and headed downstairs where Steph was already ready and waiting. Steph went for a more dressy look, with a skirt and heels and a clingy button down.
"Um, Steph- we're going to the stadium, not a meeting," Kaitlyn said, looking at her best friend. "Don't get me wrong, you look great, but isn't it a bit much?"
"Not if I get the chance to meet one of them it isn't," Steph winked.
Kaitlyn shook her head at her friend and rolled her eyes. "You don't even like football," she scoffed.
"No, but I like hot men," Steph retorted.
"Fine, let's just get going," Kaitlyn said, grabbing the keys to her Jeep Wrangler.
The girls hopped in and made the drive to campus in record time. There already was quite a line to get in to the stadium. For a moment, Kaitlyn forgot that Scott was meeting her there.
"Hey, Steph- I'll be right back. I've got to call Scott."
"Okay, hon. I'll be here."
Steph pulled out her phone and was walking face down. All of a sudden, she ran into something. Or rather it was someone. She looked up to say sorry, but all she met was a neck. For Steph, this was strange. Being 5'10", she usually didn't have to look up at anyone. She looked up further and was met with beautiful blue eyes and the brightest, most beautiful smile she'd ever seen.
"I...I...," she blushed, trying to pull herself together.
The 6'5" blonde man smiled back at her. "No problem, sweetheart. So you're a fan?"
"Y-Y-yes," she managed to get out, as her dream man stood before her.
"Always great to meet a fan," he replied, his smile growing wider.
For a moment, she forgot that she was wearing his jersey.
"I watched you when you played here," she managed to get out.
"That's great. Do you go to UW?," he asked, still not breaking eye contact. Kaitlyn was turning into a puddle.
"Yeah, I did. Now I'm faculty here."
"Brains and Beauty, huh?" JJ smiled.
Kaitlyn felt her cheeks grow hotter and the blush grew more intense as she gave him a sheepish smile. "Thank you. That's a great compliment."
"I have to get moving to start our talk," JJ said, "but I'd like to continue this if you wouldn't mind."
Kaitlyn felt as if her heart would explode. "I'd love that," she smiled and blushed even more.
"What's your name?" JJ asked.
"Kaitlyn."
"I like that. It's pretty. Just like you. Kaitlyn what?"
"Dr. Kaitlyn Preston."
"Now I'm really intrigued," JJ said, his eyes feeling as if they were boring a hole through Kaitlyn.
"Can I get your number so I can text you when we're done and we can plan where to meet?"
"O-o-of course," Kaitlyn replied, as JJ handed her his phone. She put her number in.
"Thanks, sweetheart," JJ called after her as he walked away.
Kaitlyn's heart was in her chest as she finally remembered why she was walking this way. She had to call Scott.
