Chills of a car hood pressed against my back startle me awake. My fingers find themselves wrapped around a cool empty bottle of Corona. I blink my eyes open to the still dark sky and wait for the sun to wake.

I turn my head to get a look past the windshield and see my brother passed out in the backseat. He's covered by a limp towel smothered in cigarette stains. My poor baby brother. It seemed like yesterday he was the smart crew star that every girl would die for. Today he's the loner that drowned himself in booze and smoked more than a chimney top.

I could've done something. I should've stopped it when I had the chance. But now we're both far too gone.
Watching the sun rise is one of the few pure moments I have left. I feel like when the world starts again every morning maybe she'll come back and everything will start over.
