Gusion didn't come visit the next day. Nor the next. Or the next. Or the next.
No matter how much she willed for him to solidify right in front of her eyes, he never did.
Guinevere lie down on her bed, some stupid part of her believing that he hadn't fully abandoned her. That was probably why her eyes occasionally darted to her balcony, eyes greeted with an empty place and the stars decorating the night sky.
It's been a week since Gusion had left her crying all alone, and it was one of the worst weeks of her life. It was as if she had lost her brother all over again.
And this time there was no Gusion to help her, comfort her. There was no one. The harsh and raw feeling of loneliness washed over her, causing a tear or two to fall down her cheeks gracefully. The feeling of unhappiness had been all that she felt that week and she was almost sure she should be numb to crying.
The days had passed in a blur, voices around her muffled, surroundings a mess of colors. She had only followed what ever her father ordered or the maids had asked her to do, from trying on a wedding gown to food testing banquet samples. She no longer cared.
The supposed most happiest week of her life was the exact opposite. Once night fell, Guinevere would cry herself to sleep, her heart especially heavy. It hurts even more that her heart no longer craved freedom alone, but Gusion as well.
Her mind replayed only that one night when he had rejected her, humiliating and agonizing her to no ends. It wasn't exactly outright rejection but she had unwrapped herself, threw her true feelings out in the open in desperation, but he did not even give one glance. He didn't seem to care.
Confused, she had recalled their moments together, wondering when did he give hints that he was harboring anger, but she couldn't remember. He was caring and even sometimes, flirty.
Had she misread him maybe? mistaken his actions for something else?
She couldn't have. Unless it was all an act, that Gusion was a bad and manipulative person after all?
No. That stupid part of her still sided with Gusion, reasoning that he would never do such a thing. But she'd never imagined he would leave her in such a disrespectful way either, but he still did.
At least know his reasons before deciding on such a sinister thought. That small rebellious part was the only part of her that wasn't completely broken and sad. As annoying as it was, it still made her feel human.
Guinevere sniffled as her eyes surveyed the clock on the right side of the wall. Midnight.
Another day passed without the person she wanted the most.
________
Guinevere watched as the moon dove to give way for the rising sun, and then before she knew it the beautiful moon was back again, shining with the stars in the sky.
The cycle continued on for another 3 days and tonight, she was instructed to start packing the things she wanted to bring with her to the Paxley household.
Lately, dwelling about the night Gusion had left her did her more bad than it did good, so she was slowly practicing to avoid thoughts that led to that particular event, also slowly practicing to ignore that hopeful and rebellious part of her.
She was getting married in two days to someone who definitely isn't Gusion, so it was for the best, she told herself.
Some of her favorite silk sleepwear were the first she had packed into one of the boxes she was given, and her favorite afternoon gowns in another.
