Trouble- A Draco Malfoy Story

[1] The Sorting

You stand, anxious, but looking quite calm. Then, you hear the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, announce

"We have a new student! Please welcome her as we have her sorting ceremony!"

You take it, that's your cue. You walk in. Heads turn to look at you, including a boy with flaming red hair, a girl with large, bushy, brown hair, and the boy with untidy black hair and glasses, all sitting next to each other. Do you look around and see a tall, handsome boy, looking at you, from what you take a Hufflepuff table. You continue looking around, and see an odd looking girl with pale hair, and what looks like radishes hanging from her ears. At the final table, you see a pale boy with white blonde hair, with two hunkering boys sitting next to him. As you continue to walk to the front to hear whispers

"Who is she?"

"Why is she coming in the middle of the year?"

And other such remarks.

You don't know much about Hogwarts, only that there are four houses, Gryffindor, the brave at heart, although some say that they are brave to the point of idiocy. Next is Ravenclaw, the wise, although many say that they are stuck-up know-it-all's who think that they are better than everyone. The third house is slytherin, the cunning, although there never was a truly evil wizard who didn't come from slytherin. And last, is hufflepuff, the kind, although many say that they are cowards and stupid. You hope to be in ravenclaw or griffindor.

You finally reach the front and turn to face everyone. You hear Dumbledore come up behind you, so you turn around and look at him. He is holding a raggedy brown hat.

"The Sorting Hat." He says simply, and puts the hat on your head.

For a moment you just stand there, feeling quite stupid, when all of a sudden you hear a voice.

"Hmmmm... A great and very strong mind."

"What?!?" You think

"What?!?" You hear the voice say "I am the sorting hat! I will tell you what house you belong in! Now, I must get back to it! You are quite cunning, and have a brave spirit... better be... SLYTHERIN!" He announces, with the last word echoing around the Great Hall.

"What? I can't be slytherin!" You think for a second, before the how to get taken off your head, and you're facing the entire school. Everyone is clapping, especially hard the table with the pale boy and two large ones, which you take to be the Slytherin table. As you walk over to the table and sit down down you think,

"I can't believe I'm in SLYTHERIN!" But your thoughts are interrupted by the pale boy, who is sitting across from you, reaching over to shake your hand.

"I'm Draco Malfoy. And that's Crabbe, and Goyle." He says gesturing to the large boys sitting next to him. "And you are?"

"Oh!" You reply "I'm Jessica Edwards!"

"Who are your parents?" Draco asks.

"I'm not sure. I grew up in an orphanage, but when Dumbledore found me, he mentioned knowing my parents, so I figure they must be magic."

"Hmmm." Draco says "Well, we'll soon find out if you are any good at magic tomorrow at lessons. C'mon Edwards. I'll show you where our common rooms are."

As you walk through the castle you continue talking and eventually get to the topic of dating.

"No, I'm not currently dating anyone." You say "I've had a few boyfriends, but never anything serious. What about you?"

"That's none of your business." Draco snaps as he sees another student walking down the corridor.

"Oh!" You say taken aback by his sudden change in attitude. "I'm sure I can find my own way to the common room. But thanks." You say coldly as the student disappears from view. You speed up and turn a random corner.

"Wait!" You hear Draco calling from behind you. "Come back!"

But you ignore him and continue walking.
