It felt like Blackpelt and this strange she-wolf had been traveling for hours. They finally reached the edge of the pine forest Blackpelt had always believed to be empty. The she-wolf halted and turned to face Blackpelt. "I never got your name." The she-wolf yipped. "My name is Blackpelt, what's your name?" Blackpelt barked.

"I'm Cedarfern! It's nice to finally know your name!"

"I feel the same. How much longer do we have to go?"

Cedarfern turned to face the forest again"Not that far, we should be there by sundown." She sighed heavily, clearly exhausted. Blackpelt groaned. That far to go? We've been traveling all day and my wounds are starting to irritate me! I suppose I should just suck it up and make the home stretch before giving up. He didn't like the idea of going much further without rest and food but he didn't tell that to Cedarfern. I mustn't look weak in front of a wolf I don't know and can't exactly trust. He knew he had made that mistake earlier by cowering when attacked. It had been a few more moments of thinking before he realized Cedarfern had already started sprinting away without him. "Hey, wait up!" He yapped before taking off running after her.

A few hours later, the sun was setting in the sky. There was an orange streak going horizontally and blue, purple and green surrounding it. Cedarfern led Blackpelt into an archway made of thorns, just big a enough so a wolf could get through but nothing bigger like a bear or cougar. He pushed his way through, the thorns combing through his pelt, soothing him. When he stepped inside his eyes widened. There was a big clearing with make-shift caves made from leaves and sticks. The food pile was fully stocked and ready to feed anyone. As he entered the small but beautiful camp with Cedarfern heads turned their way and wolves came out from their dens with their neck fur bristling. Cedarfern led Blackpelt to the center of the camp where an old but strong wolf was standing waiting for them. "Cedarfern! You've been gone so long we began to worry!" The old wolf pressed his snout into Cederfern's neck fur. "I'm sorry, papa. I found this loner just outside our territory in the plains. He says he's got dirtyblood and would like to stay" Cedarfern explained.

The old wolf took one look at Blackpelt through slanted eyes and swiped at his cheek. When he saw Blackpelt's black blood his gaze softened and he looked happy. "Welcome to the survivors pack, er.." The old wolf trailed off not knowing Blackpelt's name. "Blackpelt, sir. And you are?" Blackpelt asked eagerly. "Blackpelt, such a nice name for a pup! I am Darkmoon. Alpha of this pack! Cedarfern! Take this young pup to a nest in the resting place." Darkmoon was clearly used to giving orders and Cedarfern was used to receiving them. She looked at Blackpelt happily and led him to a nest in one of the make-shift dens. "You can stay here! I sleep a few beds away, in case you need me," she called back to him as she trotted over to her own bed. Blackpelt was happy to curl up and fell asleep very quickly.

When he was sleeping he sensed a greater presence surrounding him and opened his eyes to find himself sitting on a cloud looking at the moon. Suddenly, a great white wolf padded through the sky over to him. "Greetings, little one. I am Great Wolf." The elegant wolf spoke in a clear, smooth tone. "No need to be afraid, I have come to guide you to your dream realm." The wolf helped Blackpelt get up as he spoke these words and Blackpelt followed him through the sky, landing in the camp of his former pack. "Here, you will dream tonight. You will see those closest to you, and how they are doing." Great Wolf spoke with such authority Blackpelt was in complete awe, hardly remembering to even breathe. Great Wolf touched his nose to Blackpelt's head almost making him lay down again. "You have a troubled and long path ahead of you, Blackpelt.. Do not forget your dreams can help you escape, but can also cause great damage and suffering if you stay dreaming for too long." Blackpelt could feel himself drifting away from Great Wolf as he spoke these words. Blackpelt was drifting further into his dreams! "Do not forget I'm here for you, young Alpha.."
