It had been a few days since Blackpelt had gone missing and Sunfoot was sitting in the camp close to the food pile. She had been out training with Rosepool earlier and was using the break time to her advantage. Her best friend, Lilybranch, padded up to her. "You must stop sulking, nothing will get done if you grieve much longer." Lilybranch was speaking in a low tone as to not attract the attention of Cleanslate. He had been suspicious of Sunfoot ever since she had tried to follow her brother into the woods to find him. "You expect me to get over the death of my mother and the loss of my brother in four days?" She growled back at Lilybranch.

"Of course not! But you mustn't let it affect your performance in training, or Cleanslate will get suspicious.."

"I suppose you must be right, but it's hard to look at my father the same way after he killed his mate for Great Wolve's sake!"

"I know I know, I'm lucky my brothers and I were all pure."

"Shove it in my face will you?"

"I didn't mean to-"

"I know, Lilybranch, but I just want to be alone right now."

"Okay, see you at training." Lilybranch padded away sadly, tail dragging along behind her. Sunfoot immediately regretted asking Lilybranch to go away. She loved her friend and would do anything to make her happy. She knew Lilybranch would do the same for her any time of the day, but now she felt lonely in her own camp. She laid down and rested her chin on her forepaws, sighing heavily. A few moments later a shadow blocked her view of the sun and Woodpaw, Lilybranch's brother, stood in front of her. "What are you so sad about, eh?"He barked playfully.

She glared up at him steadily. "You were at the meeting, you remember." She growled.

"Dang okay! Don't have to bite my fur off about trying to make conversation, Sunny."

"How many times have I told you not to call me that!?" She suddenly jumped up teeth bared, growling at him. Her father saw what was going on and padded over to them. "SUNFOOT!" He barked. She turned to glare at her father as he looked back and forth between her and Woodpaw. "You know this is no way to treat your future mate!" Sunfoot suddenly lost feeling in her paws and she gaped at her father in awe. "FUTURE MATE!? And when in the world did I agree to this!?" Her father gave her a stern look through slanted eyes. "You are to be Woodpaw's mate when you are old enough to lead the pack, and when I die!" By now Cleanslate was growling at her, looking as if he was about to pounce.

"That's not fair! I don't even like him, let alone love him enough to be his mate!"

"Oh shush your yapping! You're going to be his mate whether you like it or not!"

"I'm more interested in his SISTER for stars sake! I will never be his mate! I would rather run away than be attached to this FOOL!" She stalked away before her father could respond. She headed into the healer's den and laid down in a bed, trying to get some rest. The healer, Greyherb, poked his head out from a hole in the wall when he heard Sunfoot come in. "Feeling alright?" He padded up to her and sat down ready to help if it was needed. "I'm fine, just need to rest." Sunfoot barked sadly, avoiding his eyes.

"I can give you poppy seed to calm you down!"

"No, it's alright, we have to train soon anyway."

"Okay, if you say so." He walked back into the cave to do whatever it is healers do. Oh gosh, what am I gonna do? I don't want to be Woodpaw's mate! He's so arrogant and rude! What does father even see in him!? Her thoughts then traveled to Lilybranch, and her rose colored pelt. Sunfoot loved hanging out with her and talking with her, every time she spoke Sunfoot tried to drink in every last word. She admired Lilybranch's wisdom. She was such a young, pretty, wolf. NO! Stop thinking about her! You're just friends, that's all you will ever be! You're both she-wolves, it would never work out.. She could feel herself drifting off into an uneasy sleep, bad dreams already haunting her though she was still awake.
