Galeidia was considered one of the most civilized land in our world. Our government was well-organized with minimal resistance from the people. Like most of the lands on our maps, Galeidia was divided into three different sections. The inner core, outer core, and the outer rim.

The inner core of the city was clean, cut, and organized in a careful manner. The "streets" were about thirty feet wide, made completely of marble. Automobiles were of the Ancient Times, so these roads existed for the luxury of strolling. The skyscrapers were all the same height, about one thousand feet, and skinned with marble over the ancient steel skeleton. These skyscrapers held some of the most important people of our city; of our world. Government officials and business owners didn't venture far from the inner core, as many of their jobs took place there also.

The "average folk" remained mostly on the outer core, where I stayed as well. We did not enter the inner core except on special occasions such as elections or festivals. Our territory contained streets of gravel, and few with cobblestones, that guided through markets and suburban housing. We were content with where we were, so we did not leave. We provided for one another; food, clothing, whatever was needed. We made money from each other, we gave money to each other. It was comfortable; civilized.

Again, compared to the other lands, we were probably one of the most civilized in our world. There were at least fifty different lands in our world; each the same amount of surface, and the same structure. The wealthy remained in the inner core, the middle-class in the outer core. On the outer rim, there were forests, rivers, drylands, or oceans, but so few knew of them and what they were like. Who could blame them when you are living in such comfort? This was a time when technology and change meant everything, and anything else meant nothing.

The Ancient World told many legends on how they would die. My ancestors weren't as creative as to discuss zombies, aliens, or robots. They said that the apocalypse was natural; that the world had been swallowed by water and land, the sun had burnt out, and the earth had shifted so far in its galaxy that two stars were created into two suns.

I wasn't sure how much I bought into the legend, but I knew there was some truth to it.

The legends say that some humans survived the attack, which of course they did. That had to be true. Not all could survive, though. Some starved to death, some froze, and some committed suicide because they couldn't stand being alone. There were so many different ways the world fell apart, but it continued to fall until five humans from different lands joined together. They were the only humans alive on the entire planet. Together they could conquer anything, because in reality, there was nothing to really conquer.

All of this power got the best of them. They created new ways, and new traditions, only for themselves. Everything was done selfishly, and whatever was controlling human life decided to punish these people. However, they did not see it as a punishment. They became immortal, or rather, frozen in their time. They were forced to live hundreds, thousands, or maybe millions of years alone with no one to turn to but the five. And while that sounded like a dystopia, they were greedy people. They used this to benefit themselves. After centuries spent with only each other, they called themselves the Mazmurox. Whatever evil came towards them, they conquered it. Nothing could overcome the Mazmurox. So after centuries of boredom and loneliness, they created a new generation. A gift to the world, perhaps.

This was a generation like no other. Because of the power and strength of the Mazmurox, the people they created had some power too. These people were not immortal. Their powers were strongest in their teenage years. Each child born in this new generation was born with two powers; both inherited from each parent. By the twentieth year, one power would overcome the other, and that was the power they had to live with for the rest of their life.
