I was wide awake on that cot, nothing but memories of my friends and family in my head. I doubted I'd see them again. I had no idea what they may have thought happened. Out loud I'd never admit it but, I was terrified. I had no idea what these men were planning to do with me and I certainly wasn't keen on finding out. I held my hands out in front of me. My wrists were red and bruised, my elbows looking the same. My knees and ankles probably also bruised. I reached for my necklace, a simple silver chain with a plain blue gem, a perfect match to my best friends. Only to realize it was gone. Must've gotten ripped off at some point. I curled my knees to my chest, my heart pounding in my chest. I wanted out of here but, the only way I knew of was the door which was always locked. I wanted to cry, wanted to scream but the tears wouldn't fall, the sound wouldn't escape my throat. Honestly I didn't know if I had any tears left to cry.
The lock on the door clicked and I bolted upright, pressing my back against the wall.
Both men entered the room, making me press my back harder into the wall as though it might give.
Cairn stepped towards me, his hands in his pockets.
"Get. Back." I clenched my jaw, my hands curling into fists at my sides.
His hand grabbed my jaw, his fingers digging in roughly. "You forget whose in charge here." He growled. "Gale." His hand released my jaw as Gale moved forward, grabbing my arms and pulling me off the cot. "Hold onto her." Cairn hmmed, smirking.
"Stop- please-" Gale pinned my arms behind my back, his grip tight and painful. "Please let go of me please-"
A sharp pain slammed through my face as Cairn's fist met my jaw. I cried out, his fist slamming into my nose. I could feel the blood drip down my lip as he kept hitting me, each blow harder than the last. After of about five minutes of him beating me, Gale let go. I fell to my knees, wiping the blood of my face with the back of my hand. Cairn's hand gripped my face again, making me wince. "I don't want another god dammed word out of your mouth you little bitch. Do you understand me?"
I blinked back my tears and nodded, my body shaking.
"Good. Because next time." He pulled a pocket knife out and flicked it open. "I won't be so kind to you." The dull side of the blade was traced along my bottom lip, only making me shake more.
He stood and jerked his head, walking out of the room. Gale following behind him. Once the lock clicked I just curled up on the floor, hugging my knees to my chest. I touched my nose lightly, wincing slightly. It wasn't broken and the bleeding seemed to have stopped. I let out a sob, curling further in on myself. I wanted to see my family again. My siblings, as annoying as some of them may be sometimes. Emily, my bestfriend. Hell I wanted to see Emily's mom, Lindsey. I shut away the thoughts of them, knowing I'd just make myself cry more. I ended up just staying on the floor, eventually dozing off.

(Now for something a little different)

The day Lilah was kidnapped

She never came home from school. It was so unlike Lilah to just, vanish without a call or even a text. I wouldn't let myself worry though. Chances were she was at Em's or at the school, helping the teachers and her phone had died. That's what I had thought at least. Until James had gotten a call that Lilah hadn't even showed up to the school building for first period. That's when I started to worry.
"James you know how Li is. She wouldn't just, skip school without a word." I paced slightly in the lobby of the apartment building my siblings and I lived in.
"Sun, I'm sure she'll turn up. Maybe she's at Emily's. We can go and check there alright? Even if something could be wrong, she couldn't have gotten far. We'll find her. Alright?" James stood from where he'd been sitting on a couch, pushing his glasses up his face. "Come one, we'll look around town alright? Check Emily's place first and go from there yeah?"
I nodded. "Alright. Let's go check." I folded my fox ears down, hiding them in my hair as James did the same. So we started looking.

A few days later

"James we've looked everywhere. She's gone." I put my face in my hands, leaning back against the building that was behind me.
"Hey." My brother pulled my hands back. "We'll see if any of the other hybrids will help us look, check other towns that are nearby. Even if something did happen, this is Lilah we're talking about. She's smart. She'll be alright."
I nodded, wrapping my arms around myself. "I'm worried about her. This is so unlike her."
"I know. I know Sun." He sighed. "We'll find her and bring her home."

One thought went through my head. Will we?
