Best friends

"Rania, breakfast's ready!" Mom shouted from the kitchen.

"Coming!" After packing all my school supplies and retouching myself, I went downstairs immediately.

"Eat properly para hindi ka magutom."

"Yes mom." Binigyan ko siya ng ngiti na agad din naman niyang sinuklian.

"G'morning Tita." Nikolai stepped inside and sit on the chair beside me before putting some foods on his mouth.

"G'morning din hijo."

"Can you slow down?" Sa sobrang tagal na naming magkakilala at magkaibigan, ganito lagi ang eksena kapag pumupunta 'to sa bahay at madadatnang may pagkain.

"Eat up, you're so tiny." He replied after chewing everything in his mouth.

I roll my eye balls on him before focusing on my food.

"Good luck on your exams."

"Thanks mom/salamat tita." We said in unison before mounting on his car. This time, we're going to use his car.

"Hoii usapan natin ah." Paalala ko sa kanya.

"Oo na. Para paraan ka talaga eh noh."

"Ofcourse, trying to save some money." I chuckle.

We made a bet yesterday na kung sino ang may pinakamababang score sa Contemporary arts ang siyang manlilibre ng tanghalian sa loob ng tatlong araw.

We're taking different courses but contemporary arts are our both subject, he's taking a civil engineering while I'm taking medicine. I really want to be a surgeon someday, I want to work abroad, Spain to be exact-- it's my dream place. We visited Spain and other countries many times but I want to work and live there.

"See you." Sabi niya sabay haplos ng buhok ko, his habit. It's either mess with my hair or pet me.

"Mmm."

"Good luck on your exam."

"You too."

We separate our ways, I went to the medicine building on the right side and he went to the engineering department, on the left side of the school campus.

"Hi po ate." A senior students approached me

"Yes?"

"Uhm. Boyfriend niyo po ba si Kuya Nikolai?" Her one friend asked kaya napataas ang kilay ko.

"What do you think?" I retorted with a new question.

"Parang po. Bagay po kase kayo tsaka ang sweet niyo pong dalawa." They giggle.

"We're best friends." Sagot ko sa kanila.

"Aww. Sana maging kayo po."

I just chuckle before leaving them. For the past years of staying here at school, some don't believe us if we told them that we're just bestfriends at hanggang doon lang talaga yon.

Oo aaminin ko, we're both sweet with each other not because we have this romantic feelings but because we treat each other like brother and sister at masaya na ako doon. I don't want to lose Nikolai, he's so important to me and he's the second man I am comfortable at-- first is dad, ofcourse.

Pagpasok ko sa loob ng classroom ay busy busy ang mga kaklase ko, some are doing their requirements na hindi nila ginawa noon, some are reading, playing, listening to music and others. I take my seat and starts reading our exam for this hour.
