Snakestar dragged a rabbit over to his mate and smiled, "How do you feel?" He was almost overly-excited at the fact that they were having another litter. He frowned slightly to himself at the thought of Adderpaw and Ivypaw, they were somewhat different from the others.
Sageblossom stretched out beside her mate and nodded, "I feel alright, but they could come any second now." She took a bite of the rabbit, but before she could swallow the mouth-full, her jaws parted in a silent wail of agony. The kits were coming!
Snakestar backed away as Meadowfeather ran up to the queen, and half-dragged, half-carried her to the nursery. His paws were glued to the ground by a sort of fear, only a father would understand.
As time passed, he forced himself to eat the rabbit and then pace around outside the nursery, he heard a short agonizing wail that made his fur stand on-end. Soon Meadowfeather came out with a smile on her light narrow face, "Two she-kits and two toms! Congratulations!" She waved her tail and disappeared behind him.
Snakestar entered the nursery cautiously and smiled down at the kits and his mate, "What are their names?"
Sageblossom waved her tail to a tiny silver bundle gently and said, "This is Silverkit..."
