The pain

Percy's heart was beating so fast.

The girl who stood in front of the monster army had the same blond curly hair and pretty face as Annabeth. The smile on Percy's face spreaded slowly, his mind stopped running and he rushed toward the girl.

Never seperate again.

When Percy was one step away from Annabeth, he stopped, the smirk that Annabeth used to love faded, his opened arms were back to the side of his shaking body. Annabeth was pointing her daggar to Percy's throat. Her eyes were not the gorgeous stormy grey, they were dark green, like the crust of the earth. "Son of Poseidon," Annabeth said, with a familiar voice that Percy didn't familiar with, "In the name of the goddess of earth, I announce we are attacking tomorrow morning." Her every single word was like needles made of ice, cold and hard, sinked  into Percy's stomach all at once.

She must be cursed, or something was lurking inside her,  just like the eidolon that lurked inside him before.

Percy tried to touch Annabeth with his shivering hand, "Annie..." The daughter of Athena glared at Percy, and did something Percy never expected.

She slashed her sword.

Her act was in the speed of lightning (I mean it, never judge Annabeth's battle skills), Percy jumped back quickly, the blade slided pass his forearm, left a shallow cut on his skin, with blood seeping out from the wound.

Percy had experienced many kinds of pain. Broken ribs, twisted ankle, falling from middle of the sky, bathing in River Styx.

But no pain could compare to this thin cut.

Tears started circling in his eyes. A girl who took a knife for protecting him, now wanted took his life away,"I guess we are clear, Perseus Jackson." Annabeth said with a blank expression, "Camp Half Blood will be destroyed, tomorrow." Then she turned around and walked away.

"Annabeth Chase!" Percy shouted, he never called her full name like that, but he was frustrated, angry with the gods, angry with the fate, angry with his life. He had nothing but one person left, the only one who held his sky up, the only thing that make sense in his ridiculous life.

And the fate took that person away. Annabeth turned around, her blond curls flew in the air, shimmering like the precious Golden Fleece. Under the sunlight, her eyes seemed to be grey again.

Percy's heart soften, he couldn't speak anything that would possibly hurt her.

And he realized there's only one thing that he wanted to say. "As long as we're together." Percy said quietly. Annabeth's straight face soften, she frowned, "As long as we're together..." she murmured, "Percy..." The black green colour of her eyes seemed to fade. But suddenly her face returned to expressionless, "Stay alife, Perseus Jackson. Your blood will be useful to the rise of Gaea. I'll kill you by my own hands tomorrow." She smirked scornfully, like a villian in Disney movies, which gave Percy a shiver. Annabeth leaded the monsters army down Half-Blood Hill and disappeared in the demigods' sight.

"If Annabeth is on Gaea's side now..." Jason said, looking in distance as if he was still seeing Annabeth. "We can never win this battle." Chiron finished his sentence, Percy couldn't look into the old centaur's eyes, they were full of sorrow and sadness. He was broken.

" We can do this." Percy forced himself to speak. "Percy... You really think we can do this without Annabeth?" Hazel asked.

"I will bring her back," Percy found his lips trembling when he spoke, "I will."
