The magic never reaches us though. The blue sphere explodes against an invisible wall before us. I glance around for Peter but he's nowhere to be found.

I created that magic shield.

I saved us.

The happy moment is short lived as the hooded man realizes one of us has magic also. He starts flinging more flying spheres at us. Some blue, but most red or orange. I feel my shield cracking as spell after spell smashes against it.

One breaks through and almost hits Lola in the shoulder. It was hot, very hot. It was one of the red ones. I can only guess it was some type of fire magic.

"Get right behind me!" I command Reynold and Lola. Reynold puts his hands on my shoulders and Lola stands behind him.

The man grins. I've just confirmed to him I was the magic user.

I am on the edge of panicking. My shield will not last much longer. I don't know what to do after it breaks. I try to rebuild my shield but with the onslaught of spells the second I rebuild a section it gets taken out. I can feel my energy draining. I also feel it is being suppressed by my necklace.

The evil grin on the man before me fills my rage which gives me the strength to hold on. I rack my brain on the magic lessons from Peter. We had not gone too much into offensive magic, mostly defensive.

An idea comes to me. "Cover your ears, and close your eyes." I whisper loud enough for Lola to hear. I take a deep breath and think of the loudest noise I've ever heard. Then I fling my right hand forward. For a second nothing happens, then a blast of light explodes right in front of the evil hooded man and a loud glass shattering boom rings out from the light like a firework.

I throw one arm over my eyes to protect them and grab Reynolds' hand with the other. Reynold grabs Lola and we run back down the hall we had come to. I run into the first room I come to and once we are all in I slam it shut.

"What was that?!" Lola shouts her ears ringing. She holds her head in her hands trying to steady herself.

"Hush!" I demand.

"Did you just do magic?" Lola gasps. The realization hitting her of what just happened.

"We have to be quiet. Come. Let us hide farther into this room." Lola and Reynold follow me farther into the room which ends up being one of the food storage rooms. I can see Lola mentally freaking out but she is putting on a brave face. I know she is going to have an onslaught of questions but that will have to be dealt with later.

A back door connects to the kitchen. We take this door, carefully creeping into the kitchen. The warning alarm rings throughout the castle leaving the kitchen empty. We cross the long expanse and head outside.

"Where to now?" Lola asks once we leave the castle walls. Her whole body is shaking with fear. Whether or not some of that fear is of me, I'm not sure.

"One of the garden houses." Reynold says taking charge. I let him, I don't want to be responsible for us, although I know this is all happening because of me, because of my unexplained magical abilities. "We'll be safe there and if someone finds us we'll have an advantage of only one entrance." I don't tell him that I haven't been in one of the garden houses since the incident or that I have a fear of what happened happening again. I just agree, knowing it is the smart choice. We can't be caught in the open.

I nod. Lola and I follow him as he starts running. We almost made it to a garden house before we were found by some patrolling enemy.

At first there was only one and we took him down easily, then another came, then two more after him. Before we knew it we were surrounded.
