Lennie and I got onto the horses and left. Halfway down the way I heard a horse behind of us. It was Curley! We sped up on the horses and turned the corner, but Curley was hot on our trail. We rod into town, with Curley on our trail the whole way there. We jumped off our horses at the train station and grab our bags. We ran over to the ticket booth and grabbed our tickets and jumped on the train, it was due to leave at any moment. The train was on route for a boating dock where we could take a ship to Paris. I would finally be able to fulfil my dreams! Once I got my career going Lennie and I would get a little place. He could tend the rabbits and I would never have to worry about Curley again. I looked back and saw Curley run past the ticket booth and he watched as the train started to roll. He started to run after the train, after a few meters I thought we had evaded Curley, but then I saw his glove full of Vaseline grab onto the side of the railing. He hoisted himself onto the caboose. He looked angry, not any of the type of angry I had ever seen, he was furious. He began to walk through each compartment looking for us. I look dover at Lennie, I took his hand and started to pull him through crowd of people.
We had abandoned our bags the only important thing to do now, was to get away from Curley. We scurried through the compartments. I almost tripped over a little girl, covered in soot. I heard yelling a couple compartment behind of us, I could only assume that Curley was close behind. We were running out of compartments; it was only a matter of time before Curley caught up to us. I held on to Lennies hand as we ran out of compartments.
The door slid open; Curley emerged from the door pistol in hand. He was furious, he pointed the gun at Lennies head. He started yelling at Lennie about how he stole his wife. The yelling continued for a couple minutes and then the pistol went off. Lennie body went limp as he fell out of the train. I watched Lennies body fall down the canyon. Tears pooled up in my eyes and began rolling down my cheeks, my freedom was gone. Then Curleys focus shifted to me. I knew that I could never stay with Curley. He grabbed me by the wrist and started to pull me back from the edge, I shook him off and went back over to the edge. I took a second to think, the choice was clear. With my last act of freedom, I let gravity take me, and I began to fall.
