The Tale of a Teenage Singing Sensation

I've been standing in this line with Sam for 163 minutes and for every one of those minutes and for every one of those minutes my nerves have multiplied by about 212%. At this stage, I can't believe that Sam won me over and made me agree to audition for this show! As I continue to wait, I look around at my competition. I see a boy who looks about my age, maybe a bit older, he has wavy brown hair and bright blue eyes. He catches me staring at him and I quickly drop my gaze embarassed. A few minutes later I look back and realise he is smiling at me and I insticitively smile back. We then share a nervous grimace but are interrupted by the entrance of a girl with a huge entourage of many different people who by the looks of it were working off the philosiphy that "her wish is our command."

"I told you" she was yelling at a young man who was looking very sheepish "I want a teal backdrop not a tourqoise one! Do you have the competenecy of a three-year old or something!?"

I exchanged a look with Sam and we both stifled a giggle and I looked across at the guy and he was also smirking.

She strutted past everone in the line giving me a look which suggested I had the same status as some type of vermin, and walked straight into the audition room. She must have a V.I.P pass as it meant she did not have to wait in the que which also suggested that she was loaded.

Soon after she went in she started singing and boy was she amazing! Her voice was crystal clear and it amzing power behind it and not once did she go off-pitch. After she finshed the silence was almost tangible and I realised that everyone had stopped everything just to listen to this girl sing. After the shock had worn off I said to Sam "I pity the person who has to follow that!" She just looked at me in a strange way and I was about to inquire why when the louds speaker announced "Contestant number 87, Callie James, youuuuu're up!"

My heart sank like I'd just gone from the 22nd floor of a building to the first in a matter of seconds. Slowly I made my way to the door where I had to go in. "Good luck" Sam said with a reassuring look. "I know you'll do great!" Just as I was opening door I looked back at the que and the boy who had smiled at me before smiled again and gave me the thumbs up and for some reason, this gave me the most confidence of all.

I took a deep breath and slowly pushed opened the door...
