Peril's warm radiation struck clay as she snuck upon him. Clay was trying to edge away from Peril in a non-offensive way, but he was on a small pillar and chained down, so he couldn't do it very discreetly. "Hello, Clay" Peril said, getting even closer to Clay than she already was. "H- Hi Peril" Clay said trying not to look down over Queen Scarlet's battle arena.

"You know, I don't want to fight you today, but I have to" Peril said in a soft, but worried tone.

Clay had to fight Peril for Queen Scarlet's daily amusement.

He didn't want to fight her either, but he had to. He knew how she had firey scales and he had watched as she burned people to death with one touch.

Clay wondered if she could withstand an Icewing's frost breath, he concluded that she probably could if she has been in the arena that long, she had to have fought an Icewing who used their frost breath on her before.

" I don't want to fight you either. How can you just fight a dragon that you have come to like?" Clay said.

"Well, I know it makes Queen Scarlet happy and that if she's happy, then she feeds me and is nice to me. So, when she's happy I'm happy" Peril said, getting even closer to clay.

"Oh- well you could always escape and find those rocks," Clay said almost falling of the pillar.

"I think she makes them. Maybe she stole all of them. I've tried looking. Also, I wouldn't leave Scarlet. She is like a mother to me" Peril said, thinking Mother. I wish I knew who she was.

"Oh. Well, she's not a very good mother. Making you witness death every day and stuff" said Clay softly, trying not to offend Peril.

Peril thought about this for a moment. "I guess not, but she keeps me alive. And that's good, isn't it?" Peril said admitting to herself that it was true, Scarlet was not the best mother in the world. Mine is probably ten times better  Peril told herself.

Scarlet had a keen look on her face as she entered her box in the stands. The horn rang for the daily fight. It was time for Peril to fight Clay. Neither of them wanted to fight each other, for they had a friendship that was sprouting into something a little... more.
