Y/N was today years old when she realised she was in a novel.

In all seriousness, she was ten.

And trust me, she'd done every method she knew of to try and convince herself she was dreaming. Alas, even after slapping herself in the face with the book she had to except that this was reality.

"T-this can't be right," she mumbled, skimming through the pages earnestly.

"I'M THE VILLAINESS??"

Yes, she was more shocked she was made out to be the bad guy rather than the fact she was in a literal book.

"B-but I've always lived a good life! I say thank you to maids in the hallways! I-I, don't I?" She questioned, confused face on before she slapped herself mentally.

"Now's not the time to be worrying about that!"

She paced the empty library with the book in hand.

"Fine I'm not perfect but I'm definitely not a villainess."

She flicked the pages until she was at the beginning of the book. "Hang on a minute..."

She sighed, brushing the back of her hand to her head. "Does this book really think I'm a clingy, bratty daughter of a viscount?!"

She thought to herself for a moment, her H/L hair getting tangled in her eyes momentarily.

She looked at her hands, thinking deeply. "I'm still young, I'm only ten. And how old does this book day I am? This doesn't make sense."

She opened a random page and let out a sigh of relief when she saw her name. That meant she didn't have to spend ages of her time trying to find scenes with her in.

She began to read:

Chapter 12, Y/N L/N

The Archduke, Alexander Saberstein brushed a strand of hair from my eyes, and I blushed slightly. It may be my first time at a royal ball but I was already being comforted by someone of his stature. I felt almost as if I did deserve to be here, his gaze was so reassuring.

"I must go," he smiled gently, "but I wish you a pleasant evening."

Oh my! He even kissed my hand! I bit my lip, brushing my locks of thick, gorgeous blonde hair behind my ear. "Thank you sir."

He blushed so deeply, it almost made me chuckle. I waved him by on his way.

I decided to make my way to the snacks table, when a hand suddenly grabbed my wrist, tightly!

"You!" It was a girl. She had H/C hair and E/C eyes. I immediately recognised who it was! Y/N L/N! The 16 year old menace. A thorn in the Archduke's side. She didn't deserve to be engaged to him! Being the daughter of a viscount that is.

But with no provoking, she suddenly through her wine glass all over my matyr looking white dress! It was stained red! She had no reason to do that at all!!

"Oh, I'm sorry..." she was obviously being sarcastic. "But—but stay away from my fiancée!"

And that was how I met the villainess: Y/N L/N. But I wasn't worried, I had my archduke to protect me.

Y/N was in shock. The book was so badly written. It had no substance.

She gagged at the thought. The protagonist, whom she read the name of earlier on, Maria Eugenic, was a basic bitch.

My character in the book probably didn't mean to spill the wine... but of course it was from her point of view, Y/N thought.

The overview of the story was that the daughter of a count was trying to navigate her way through society: trifling in love, enemies, and her happy ending. Her harem consisted of three men; Alexander Saberstein, the son of an Archduke; the second prince, Augustus Volteer, who eventually becomes the crown prince and king after killing his older brother for the protagonist, and Deyen, who was once the villainess's private knight. Had Y/N ever actually asked for his last name? She would have to.

That's besides the point. Y/N's ending after being exposed for bullying the protagonist is death. Never exultation. Either it was by the hands of her knight who holds a grudge or of the new king, Augustus, himself.

She gulped, feeling shivers go up her spine. She screwed her eyes shut, shutting the book and throwing it at the concreted wall of the manor. The book however, was not damaged in any way.

"N-no way! No way is this happening to me! Why me??!!"

She hit at her nails anxiously, hiding herself in her dress which had belonged to her deceased mother.

"This can't be fate... can't I stop it?"

Hang on.

She sat up sharply.

Isn't there an easy solution to avoid this ending?

Why not break off the engagement to Saber? Stop annoying the second prince with her antics? What about not disrespecting her knight, Deyen?

"Y/N?" A voice called. Her eyes widened and she scurried to reach it. This man could be her saviour.

She tumbled to reach the library door and pull it open, beaming.

"Hi Eddy! Guess you won hide and seek, huh?"

The girl's friend, the crown prince of the neighbouring smiled back at her, a sort of mysterious gleam in his eyes. Then he sent her a closed eye smile, which suggested hidden meanings behind his gorgeous, nine year old face. Wasn't he the only one of Y/N's relations that had not joined the harem?

"Yes, I guess I did win."

"What do you want as a reward then?" She grinned, cheekily. "I'll give you anything you want."

He thought deeply, and the pair started walking side by side. His eyes were hooded by darkness. "I want you to stop fawning over the second prince." She shivered as if a wave of cold encased her body. As if to break this facade, Y/N grimaced, facing him and signing an X with her arms. She stuck out her tongue. "That's already a given."

The girl sighed, running a chubby hand through Eddy's hair. "Since I can't fulfill that request, can't you pick something else you want?"

"...I'll keep that for later. Promise, ok?"

He held out his pinky. She obliged. "Promise."

He chuckled lightly, nudging her. She sent an expresión that screamed, "HUUUUUH."

Though she suddenly had a thought!

The young daughter of the L/N viscount grabbed his hand and said, "What do you think about marriage?"

Eddy almost choked, face going scarlet. He was obviously surprised, it was etched into his radiant face. "You've changed, haven't you?"

He squeezed her hand tightly, "Actually I do have someone in mind for marriage though."

"Maria Eugenic?"

His face went dark with annoyance. He sneered.

"Of course not."

What do you thinkkkk?
