We sat on the leather stool our legs innertwined, as he played the piano. I could feel the vibration from the tune as I started to sing the words to our song.
"It's A Long Way Down To The Place Where We've Started From"
[Ice Cream by Sarah Mclachlan]
And the words I sang meant something. It truely was a long way down from our starting point; our beginning. And this was our beginning:

~Chapter 1!~
**Brandi's POV**
"Get up sweetie!! IT'S YOUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!" There goes my over-enthusiastic step-mom again. It was my first day of junior year at high school. I had just moved here, because of recent tragic events with my biological mother who lived in Florida. You could say I was one of those 'new girls' but I didn't care. I didn't want to be here. I didn't have a choice.
"I'm up... what time is it..?" I said with a groggy voice and tangled hair in my face.
"It's 5:35 sweetheart!! I'll go tell your dad to make you breakfast. I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU!" she did a little dance and smiled at me.
What was this lady thinking school didn't start till 8:05. I'm sorry, I shouldn't call her a 'lady', her name was Allison. 'Been married to my dad for almost 7 years now. She meant well, and treated my dad right, so I was ok with her.
I got up slowly out of my soft, fuzzy pale blue comforter and shuffled over to my vanity. "Eh." I said to myself in my head, used to the sight of my face. Sandy red-brown hair, dark green eyes, and freckles. That was me. And there was nothing special about me.
I don't wear any makeup to school, other than mascara because I hated to wear face powder or face cream or face shit. Thats what I called it, face shit. I hated it because when I would wear it, face shit would get all over my jacket sleeves when I touched my face. So, I stopped wearing it. It was cold here in California. Winter was creeping up on us, so I decided to wear some leggings, ugg boots, and a big cream colored sweater. I didn't find anything special out of the first day.
Next on my to-do list was styling my hair, which for me was throwing it up in a bun. There. All done. Now I got to go downstairs for breakfast.
"Goodmorning, bug!" My dad said flipping my pancake onto a plate. I quickly grabbed it, slid it across the table, sat down in front of it, and dug in.
"Hi thdad" I said with my mouth full. "Canx we sget to schoolth early?" I finished my sentence as I swallowed my giant mouth full.
"Sure. Grab your stuff and I'll meet you in the car piggy." He chuckled to himself as he leaned over to give Allison a kiss goodbye. I walked out the front door and down the porch steps, making my way to the car.
My dad soon followed after me, and we made our way to the highschool down the hill.

"Bye dad, pick me up at 3:30? I'm going to look around the campus after school." I said waiting for his reply so I could shut the car door.
"Text Ally, she's picking you up today. I have to stay late at the office tonight. Love you honey, have a good first day!" He waved, sort of giving me the 'ok' to close the door and start my journey at Timbleton HighSchool, home of the tigers. What a typical mascot.
As I walked my way through the crowds of kids, I got alot of glares and dirty looks.... I have no idea why, I guess I give off a new girl scent. I heard one girl whisper "Is that the new girl? She's weird.." as I turned the corner. Wow. Not even 10 minutes here and I'm already weird. I guess you just have to laugh at it. My first class of the day was science, which I wasn't so thrilled about because it wasn't my best subject. I made my way to an empty seat, which happened to be the one in the very back, with no partner. Success! Loner on the first day. I was a little okay with the loner status because I didn't talk to alot of people anyways.
The bell started to ring, and the teacher walked up to his desk, to get a view of the full class.
"Hello, my name is Miss. Pealoph, and I'm your science teacher for this year. Now, come on. We all know we hate high school, am I right?" The whole class roared with yeah's and woo's before she gestured the class to settle down. "I'm not going to be your mean strict "5-essays-a-week" teacher. But i'm not also going to be the total "do-whatever-you-want" teacher too. But I do understand highschool and I know what your going through. Alright let's get started role call.... role call..." she drifted off as she looked for her role sheet. Then she began to call out names.
"Amanda Bridgestone?" "Here!"
"Dylan Brock?" "Here"
"Brandy Clarkson?" "Here"
As soon as I said here everybody turned to look at me. All eyes were on me, because I was the 'new girl'. But I didn't like it.
"Can I help you?" I said to the entire class. Everybody just kinda crinkled their eyebrows or shrugged their shoulders and went back to what they were doing. Except for one boy. He was in a few rows above me. He had long curly hair and a white plain v-neck on. I couldn't tell anything else about him, because he was too far up.
"Harry Styles?" "Hea." The boy who was lurking at me turned around to answer to his name. I guess it was Harry? And he had an accent. A cute one too.
As the day went by I met a few people here and there, talked to some teachers about my move. I had 3 classes with the girl in my science class. Amanda Bridgestone. I guess you could say we became 'Friends.' It was the end of the day and I was about to go walk around the campus and get a feel for it.
"Bye Brandi!!" Amanda said calling from her mom's car. I waved back as she drove down the street.
I went to look back down at my phone and kept walking. I didn't bother to look up because nobody was around so I wouldn't be bumping into anyo- BAM....
I dropped my phone, and as I went to reach for it, a rugged big hand grasped it before I could. I looked up to see who it was, and low and behold it was stalker boy.
"Sorry about that, I wasn't looking where I was going" He said in a little british accent. Damn. Just now seeing his face he was pretty cute. He had green eyes and a smile and dimples anyone would kill for.
"It's alright, I wasn't looking either I was texting my-"
"Boyfriend?" He interrupted with an eyebrow raised at me.
"No..? Why would it be my-"
"Just wondering" He interrupted again... "I never got your name?" He cracked a smile just big enough to let his dimple peak through. This boy had game.
"Brandi... Brandi Clarkson. And your-"
"Harry. Harry Styles." I swear if he interrupted me one more time.
"You have a little issue there, Styles. Interrupting people isn't exactly polite." I said leaning on one leg.
"You have a little issue yourself, Clarkson. Attitude isn't applicable either." He grinned, staring right into my soul it felt like.
"............look i have to go my step-mom's probably waiting for me." I looked down avoiding eye contact with Harry. He was adorable, yes, but I was always a little awkward around boys and it made me uncomfortable.
"You forgot something?" He said grabbing my arm before I got out of reach.
"What." still looking down trying to find something to look at. He handed me a peice of paper.
"Text me. I didn't get the science notes today because I wasn't really paying attention. See you tomorrow Clarkson." He winked and walked around the corner out of my site. I got butterflies in my stomach so bad I felt like I was going to puke. I tucked the peice of paper in my pocket so I wouldn't lose it. Allison drove up and waved at me through the car window as I walked up to the passenger door. I sat down into the leather seat and let out a huge sigh.
"How was your first day honey?" She looked at me with a big grin and a jittery face.
"Good. It was....Good."
