My Wish

"Let's get this day over with." Sora said to herself. Sora walked out of the door and went straight to her school. Like always, when she walks into the school no one even notices her presence. She went straight to her locker to get her textbooks and went to her homeroom. When the bell rang all the students went into their homerooms. When everyone was in the classroom the teacher started taking attendance. While the teacher was taking attendance, Sora spaced out while looking out the window. Sora doesn't have any friends. She used too when she was younger but they just disappeared like thin air. So Sora was alone for most of her school life and her parents weren't really around either because of work. After a few of her classes, the bell rang for lunch. Everyone was heading to the cafeteria except Sora. Sora grabbed her lunch out of her locker and went outside to sit under a tree to eat her lunch and read a book. After she finished her lunch she threw her trash away and went to her next class. After her last three classes, the bell rang meaning it's time to go home. Sora was happy about that because she always goes to this certain place after school or after lunch if there wasn't school that day. Sora went home to put her school stuff down and she left to go to her favorite place. Sora arrived at her favorite place and that was an electrical tower. This certain electrical tower is really high but Sora loves it. Sora loves going up there because it's very calming and relaxing. She likes feeling the wind up there and likes to look down at the city. But she has one main reason why she goes to the electrical tower everyday. Sora goes there everyday to look up at the sky and always makes the same wish. Sora started to climb up the tower like it was nothing. When she finally gets to where she usually stays, she sits down and looks at the sky. While looking up at the sky, she closes her eyes and says the same five words she always says when she's there, "I wish for a friend". She opens her eyes while smiling. Sora looks down at the city to see how pretty it was from up above. Sora saw the sun starting to set so she got up and went back down to head home. When she got home she made herself dinner and ate it. Then she did her night routine and went to bed. The next morning she did her morning routine, grabbed an apple, and started to head to school. She repeated what she did yesterday and it kept going like that for the whole week. It was finally Saturday and Sora didn't have school. Sora woke up at 10 o'clock in the morning. She started to do her morning routine like usual. When she got done she went to the kitchen to make a bowl of cereal and go to her living room to watch tv while eating breakfast. After some hours it was 1 o'clock. "I guess I should make a sandwich and bring a drink with me before I go." Sora said out loud to herself. When she got done making her lunch, she put it into her bag and locked her front door and left. When she got there, she started climbing up. When she finally got to her spot, she sat down and pulled out her sandwich, water bottle, and book. She started to eat her sandwich while reading her book. Four hours had passed and she's still there but she knew the sun was about to start setting so she started to pack her stuff up. Before she left she made her usual wish and started to climb down and go home. When she got home she made herself dinner like usual, did her night routine, and went to bed. For the past four weeks, she's been doing the same thing everyday. It's now Monday and it's the first day of spring break. Sora was happy because she gets to take a break from school. She's also really happy because her birthday is tomorrow and that's the day she gets to spend time with her parents. While Sora was eating breakfast and watching tv, she got a call. "Hello?" Sora answered. "Hey Sora, I need to tell you something.." Sora knew it was her mother because of her voice. "Hi mom! What do you need to tell me?" Sora asked her mom. "Me and your Father can't come visit you on your birthday..." When Sora heard her mom say that, she started to feel sad. "Why...?" Sora asked. "Me and your Father have to go out of town for work. We're really sorry we couldn't see you on your birthday, but you should get your birthday present from us tomorrow in the mail, ok?" Sora listened but she still feels upset. "It's fine! I know you two are only doing this to bring money home so we can eat and have a roof over our head, so it's fine!" Sora said to her mom. "Thank you Sora for understanding. I have to go but remember that me and your father love you very much!" When Sora heard her mom say that, she couldn't help but smile. "I love both of you too, bye!" Sora said and the call ended. Sora still felt really upset but she knows her parents care about her very much and they work so they can bring food home and keep a roof over their head so she's thankful for that. Sora decided to go to the electrical tower early so she packed a lunch and book. She put her lunch and book in her bag and Sora headed outside. When she got there she climbed up and sat down in her usual spot like always and she does the same thing she always does there. She then goes home, does her night routine and goes to bed. The next day she woke up and jumped out of her bed to get ready for the day. When Sora was done getting ready she grabbed her bag and went downstairs. She grabbed an apple and headed out the door to go to the store. Sora loves making her own cake on her birthday so she had to go get ingredients she needed to make a cake. When she bought all of the ingredients she went home and started making the cake. After about two hours the cake was done and decorated. Sora started to make sandwiches and grab two water bottles to put in her bag. When she put the sandwiches and water bottles in her bag, she put the cake in a container and grabbed it. She was about to walk out the door when she remembered that her parents sent her a present so she put the cake and her bag down on the table and went outside to grab her present out of the mailbox. Sora came back in holding two boxes, one is small and the other is bigger, she put both of the presents in her bag. She put her bag on and grabbed the cake and left to go to the electrical tower. When Sora got there she started to climb up to get to her usual spot like always. When she got there she put the cake container down and sat down and pulled out the presents, sandwiches, water bottles, and her book. She sat down eating her sandwiches while reading her book with a smile on her face. After a while, Sora decided to open up those happy birthday candles and put them in the cake. She grabbed a lighter out of her bag and lit the candles up. Sora looked at the cake and candles and started to close her eyes. Before she blew the candles out she made her wish, "I wish to have a friend that could accompany me and always stay by my side when I'm not in the brightest of moods or places. Please I just wish to have one friend!" Then she blew out the candles and opened her eyes. She started to smile while looking at her presents, "I guess it's time to open up the presents my parents sent me." Right when she touched the smaller present she heard something. Sora heard footsteps. Sora got up and quietly walked to where the footsteps were coming from and she stopped. She stopped because Sora saw a boy that looked like her age looking back at her. They both just stood there looking at each other until the boy finally spoke. "Um, hi. I saw you coming up here with a bag and a cake and I was curious of what you were doing so I followed, sorry." The boy said. "Um, it's fine." Sora nervously said because she hasn't talked to anyone except her parents in a really long time. "Well, Hi! My name is Nozomi!" Sora looked shocked that he was even talking to her but also happy. "Hi Nozomi, I'm Sora! Nice to meet you!" Sora said, smiling happily. "Nice to meet you too! But I got a question, why did you come up here and have a cake?" Nozomi asked. "Oh well, I usually come up here like every day but I brought a cake up here because today is actually my birthday!" Sora said, her smile growing wider. "Oh happy birthday! Um, do you mind if I join you? I don't really have any friends and you seemed lonely so I thought I could accompany you!" Nozomi asked and Sora has never felt this happy when he asked to accompany her. "Yeah, you can join me! I don't have any friends so I would like to have some company!" Sora said, excitedly. They both walked to where everything is and Sora cut Nozomi and herself a piece of cake. "This is really good!" Nozomi said. "Thanks!" Sora said. When Sora finished eating her slice of cake, she started to open her presents. Her parents got her a locket and with a family picture inside it, and the other side had no picture, and a kalimba thumb piano that Sora always wanted. Sora tried to put the locket on, but she struggled, so Nozomi offered to help her put the locket on. For the rest of the day Sora and Nozomi joked and played around and got to know each other more. "Hey Sora, can we be friends?" Sora was shocked to hear that question but also got really happy. "Yes we can be friends!" Sora said excitedly. Sora looked at the it was about time for the sun to set but she remembered an empty spot in her locket and thought of Nozomi. "Hey Nozomi, I'm gonna have to go but before I leave can I have your number and can we take a picture together?" Sora asked. "Yeah sure!" Nozomi said excitedly. They gave each other their numbers and took a picture together. "Bye Nozomi!" Sora said, waving goodbye. "Bye Sora!" Nozomi said back, also waving goodbye. When Sora got home she was so happy. She put all of her stuff up, made herself dinner, did her night routine. Before she went to sleep she texted Nozomi goodnight. For the rest of Sora's life her and Nozomi were best friends and Sora put the picture they took together on the other side of her locket.
