Chapter 21

Unedited

Life crown psychiatric hospital

In the hall of the psychiatric hospital, Esther was seated on one of the blue chairs, waiting to see a psychiatrist. Her phone rang and she picked it up. "Hello dear" she began quite happy to hear her son's voice.

"How's Abuja?" She asked, "Abuja is fine, how's Dad?" He asked and she hissed. "So you can't even ask about me?"

"Ever since you told me Dad isn't feeling too well, I've been shaky about it."

"He's not too well"

"What's going on? You've been telling us not to give him a call, mom it's kind of suspicious. Is he okay? Should I call him?"

"No!"

"Why? Mom, I'll take the first flight back to Lagos tomorrow"

"Don't!"

"Why? Mom it doesn't make sense, first we're not allowed to call him, and now we can't see him? Is there something you don't want us to know?"

"I don't think your father is okay mentally, he's been saying crazy things. Things that doesn't make sense" "Things like what?" "Like, I charmed him."

"He said that?"

"Yes, he said he doesn't remember 26 years of his life, can you imagine that? What's sane about that? He's been shouting at me, getting violent, I'm scared for myself. I think your father needs psychological help"

"Oh my God! I'll be in Lagos, first thing tomorrow"

"Is there any need? I'm sure you're busy"

"Dad needs all the help he can get"

"Ernest, I think you should just stay back"

"I'm not staying back, not this time. My father needs my help" he answered hanging up and Esther hissed then she cussed George's sturbborn Gene.

A lady slowly approached her smiling, "You can now see Dr. Alade now" she answered and Esther walked into the office smiling. "Good morning Dr. Alade" "Good morning Esther" he answered gestured for her to take a seat and she did.

"Wow, it's been long"

"Abi, how's your wife and children?" She asked and he smiled. "Ah, they're fine oh, my son is now abroad oh, ah, he married last year January and he welcomed his twins not too long. Two months ago or so"

"Wow, congratulations"

"Thank you oh. Iwo naa nko, (And you?) How are things, your children nko? Anyone that is married?"

"Ernest is just 29 years old and my daughters are still very much young. They're not rushing"  "What brought you to my office this morning? They say a toad doesn't run in the day"
