Tiana Toretto
Tiana's POV
I sit next to Khalil in aunt Natasha's car, buckling in my seat belt, putting the seat belt strap behind my neck. I hate the strap, it feels like it's choking me. "You're not Mommy." Mommy always picks me up from school.
Natasha turns her head, looking at me. "Wha-" She reaches back to tickle me. "You're not happy to see me?"
I try to say something, laughing as she tickles me more.
"What about you, mister?" She tickles Khalil too. He tries to get away but Aunt Natasha's faster than us. "Do you miss your mother? Did you miss me?"
"Yes!"
"You better!" She teases us, sticking her tongue out. A loud horn beeps behind us. Natasha sticks her head. "Go around if you're in such a big rush." A yellow car speeds past, blowing the horn again. "Ooo, if these kids weren't in this car, I'd..." She starts driving away from my school. She looks at me through the rear view mirror. "What about you, beautiful? Did you miss Aunt Natasha?"
"Uhhhhh," I look at Khalil, but he tries not to laugh again. "Maybe...." I look at her. "No?"
"Ooooh, that's cold!" Khalil laughs.
Natasha shakes her head. "I'm gonna get you back for that." She teases. Aunt Natasha is Mommy's best friend since forever. Shhhh! Don't tell my aunt Mia that Natasha's my favorite. "Your mom had... to take care of something very important. So she couldn't come get you and Khalil today."
This never happens. Mommy always picks me up. She always picks us up, just like her and Daddy drops us off in the mornings. Nothing like this ever happened before. I hope she's at the store when we get there. She has some serious explaining to do. And how come Aunt Natasha can't tell me where Mommy is?
Natasha asks Khalil about his day and he tells her about everything, but he just cares about recess. It's his favorite part of the day.
I would tell Natasha about my day, but all I care about is Mommy. I tried to guess where she would be, but my brain doesn't have a clue. Mommy is lost like when Mia lost her textbook and couldn't find it because Jesse had accidently put it in the oven. Jesse says he was playing hide-and-seek with the book, but forgot it was in there. It was funny!
I stare out the window, looking at everything we pass until Natasha puts the car in park when we get to the store. I open the door and get out, seeing Mia behind the counter. "Hi, Mia!"
Mia looks up from her work and smiles as I climb on a stool. "Hey!" Mia's studying to become a doctor. "Hi, Khalil." He waves as he walks in with his mom. "How was the last day of school?"
"We had a pizza party!" Khalil says.
"Ahh, no wonder why you're so hyper." Natasha kisses him on the forehead. "All that sugar in your system. I should leave you with your Mia and Dom's house so you can run all that sugar off."
