"Don't tell anyone what you are"
4 years later--present time
Jane CaseyI walked through the dark alley with nothing, but some money and my phone. As I turned the corner, I spotted the familiar face. He saw me and slowly walked towards me. He picked up a cooler from the ground.
"Boss send you?" Rand leaned against the wall of the old brick building.
"How many times do I have to tell you, Rand?" I tilted my head and smiled. "Liam refused to pick up the missing items, so that leaves me," I rolled my eyes. "I even played rock, paper, scissors. I still lost," I shrugged my shoulders.
"Ts, ts, ts," He shook his head, handing me the cooler. "How is Liam? I haven't seen him in a while," He shoved his hands in his pockets.
"He's good, busy," I nodded. "He's working at The Underworld," I pointed behind me. "He bartends, but that's his cover-up," I explained. "He pretty much makes sure anybody who isn't supposed to be there, isn't there," I laughed. "He's still taking out the bad guys though," I rocked back on my heels. Liam and his father saved me. They save people from kidnappings, sex trafficking, and all sort of things. Drugs are one thing, but Liam doesn't tolerate killing or torturing without a reason.
"What are doing now? Still making deliveries and collected payments?" He asked.
"I do still do that, but I've been helping Liam out," I nodded. "He says he can handle it all and that he's fine, but he's a shit liar," I shook my head.
"Such a shame what happened," Rand shook his head. "His dad was one of the good ones," I nodded in agreement.
"Well, I should probably get these to Hades before my head is on a pike," I held up the cooler. "It would at least be nice to know who I'm working for, still haven't seen his face." I shook my head, laughing. "And get this. When he needs to say something he whispers in his little body guard's guards and they say it for him," I shook my head. "Don't know if it's smart or pathetic."
"Probably a little bit of both," Rand laughed. "By sweetie, stay safe out there."
"You as well," I leaned in, pressing a quick kiss on Rand's cheeks. He smiled as I turned around, walking out of the Alley. I walked onto the sidewalk with the cooler in my hand. I looked both ways before walking across the street, over to the bar.
The Underworld.
The U was broken so it flashed on and off. I opened up the large doors and walked in. The place was packed like normal. I pushed past people, making my way up to the bar. Liam was running around back there, making drinks for people.
He saw me, his eyes lighting up. He threw his towel over his shoulder, waving. He walked up to the bar, meeting me as I sat down.
"I'll get the Devil's shot please," I smiled and tilted my head. He winked at me, getting the bottle of cranberry vodka. He poured me a glass and topped it off with a sprinkle of chili powder. This shot really did taste like ass, but it was also a code for something.
I needed his keys.
Before he handed me the shot, he reached into his pocket, grabbing a key. He looked around before dropping the small key into the shot glass. He handed it to me, smiling.
"On the house," I put my hand on my chest pretending to be flattered. I rolled my eyes as I took the shot, finding the key with my tongue. I hid the key on the inside of my cheek. I swallowed the rest of the drink, my face scrunching up in the process.
I waved at Liam as I got off the barstool. I walked through the crowd of people, making my way to the back of the bar. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked back, furrowing my eyebrows.
