Charles didn't see me yesterday. Or he did and he's just planning on killing me today. I've had a pit in my stomach ever since I rolled down my windows. Maybe it was a dumb choice, but at this point, I just need to end this.
Whether it ends with me dying or us succeeding in killing them. I don't care anymore.
I didn't sleep at all last night. I stayed in my living room sitting in front of my door with my sword just waiting for someone to barge through. Maybe the sword was a bit dramatic, but it looked cool.
The last time I got decent sleep was when I napped at Harry's house. It's just all becoming so real now. He's in town and he's after us.
He's probably after Liam too. Liam is brave and would do anything for me and that's what scares me. He wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice himself. I'm sure he'd even do it for Harry.
I felt my phone start to vibrate in my pocket. I took it out of my pocket and looked at my screen. A familiar picture of Rand and I popped up.
I always loved this picture. His arm was wrapped around my neck and I had the widest smile on my face. I answered the phone and put it to my ear.
"Hello?" I kept staring at my door, waiting.
"Hey Janey," He sounded sad. "How are you doing?" He's always checking up on me.
"I'm exhausted if I'm being honest. How are you?" He deserves to be checked in on more than anybody.
"I'm good I'm good," I heard him sniffle. "You know I love you right? You know I care so much about you?" His words became harder to understand.
"Of course," I stood up from my chair and furrowed my eyebrows. "What's wrong?" I started pacing the room.
"Don't worry about me, sweetheart. You are the strongest girl I know and I love you-" A shot rang out.
I felt my heart drop to my stomach. My hand started to shake.
"Rand?" I was frantic.
"He's in the alley by The Underworld," I heard an eerily familiar voice. "See if you can save him," Charles laughed dryly on the other end. The phone hung up and I dropped it immediately. My heart was pounding so hard I thought it might burst out of my chest.
All of a sudden panic struck my veins. I flew towards the door and ripped it open. I sprinted as fast as I could through the hallway making my way down the stairs.
I burst out of the apartment lobby. I got to my car and pressed my foot on the gas, switching gears. I slammed my foot on the gas and the tires screeched underneath me. I sped out onto the street and made my way to The Underworld.
In record time I was putting my car in park and flying out of my car. My lungs burned as I sprinted towards the alley.
"Rand!" I made my way through the alley and searched around for him. I finally spotted him on the floor.
I sprinted towards him and fell to the ground next to him.
"No, no, no," I spoke frantically grabbing his head and wresting it in my lap.
He was barely conscious as he looked up at me and smiled.
"You're okay," I nodded and searched his body for a wound. I spotted the hole in his jacket and pressed my hand there to try and stop the bleeding.
"Shit," I couldn't call an ambulance. How would I explain to them that my father did this?
"Rand please," Tears stung my eyes as I looked down at him.
